I didn't realise they were that far behind, although I suppose someone has to collate the information and convert it into a format that works on these headunits.

 

I suspect that the mapping is done by "a company" that does maps then these are then translated to this head unit by Denon (as I think its a Denon based head unit).

 

Bought our 308 in june 2015 and then major, new road infrastructure that was finished in fall 2014 was still missing in the satnav. But with this latest update it appeared.

Hi,

The Map updates, and the Speed Camera updates are seperate things. I would suggest doing the Map updates first, then the Camera Updates second.

Both of the latest files are located in the commends on this thread.

The latest maps are 2015-2, I cannot remember the speed camera versions. The guide in the original post is for the SMEG+ but I am led to believe it will also work on the SMEG.

Yeah it will... Its a file hosting site rather than a music channel.

Click the link:

Speed Camers

Scroll down to the Red Button that says 'Slow Download' click it and wait 30 seconds...

Then a new button appears that says 'Start Download'

Click that and your done!

I updated the speed camera on my system, the only warning I've had is a red traffic light symbol came in dash screen, the traffic lights in front had a fixed speed camera, not sure whether the car was telling me there was a red light or there was a red light camera on the junction,

The generator is a Java based program. Make sure you have Java installed on your computer for it to work. Failing that, PM me your VIN.

You have a 206 with a SMEG? Or is that 208?

It has been noted earlier that you need to change something in the program to make the old units work on this update, could somebody please work me through what to change in the software.

Im fairly sure it should work once all the correct files are on the USB stick. Could you screenshot the USB stick directory and upload it so I can have a look?

 

I have just realised, the map update does not start automatically when you insert the USB stick...

once the system has verified the USB stick you have to go into settings on the system and tell it what countries to update, then it will start.

have another quick look at the guide.

 

Hi P aul my sat nav unit is probably not like yours on the left it has a volume dial at the top and to square buttons at the bottom.

You have the SMEG Touchscreen. I have only done this on SMEG+ so far i am afraid.

I know the maps are the same, but I am not sure of the install process until I have done it myself?

Perhaps anyone who has used it on a SMEG can comment?

 

Had a quick look, perhaps it is done through the settings screen on yours? Please see this quote:

Put in the USB drive. We let the device read.

1.-In the browser window, click on the Settings tab of the screen and look for maps info, we will get the map of Europe with information from each of the maps we have in the installed browser (in my case it was version 102 each country, these have the 102.1 meter)

2.- We press the SEARCH option and then access all the maps we have in the USB.

3.- choose the / the map / s you want to update (to give you an idea, the map of Spain-Portugal you occupies about 430 mb, and it has taken me about 10'to update) and we asked that we put the activation code, that will be generated and we have noted in step 5 º. Once entered, accept and begin the update, we will see a progress bar. When you finish, and is, to date maps.


This could be the normal settings menu you can access, or the hidden settings menu (press and hold the menu button)

**EDIT** - See this page for a guide. Its not in english, but you can translate a whole page with google translate!

 

Hi Paul, insert the USB stick and it says VERIFICATION OF MEDIA DATA, whilst this is on you cannot push any on screen settings as once the info goes on screen then theres nothing to push,

That's what it is supposed to do. Then you go into the options for the Sat Nav, then Map information, then there will be an option to Search for new maps...

 

It does not show any other options.

 

sorry buddy, I cant really help with this any more remotely. If i ever get chance to have a play with one, I will likely amend my guide to be true for the SMEG unit, but i cant see that happening soon.

Did you try the guide i found online? I know its in another language, but i have a plugin that allows me to convert the whole page into english, which makes it easy.

I could perhaps paste the guide into a word document in english and host it if it helps?

Thanks for the update. When I extract the file I see there are more folders than just the SMEG_PLUS_UPG folder.
Is this correct?

Any noticeable difference with the firmware? Is it worth doing?

 

Bit faster to change between the various screens is the only difference I have noticed. According to some sources, they have changed the acceleration rate of the car when using the SMEG to change the Cruise Control Speed. I am yet to use the cruise control so can't say.

I just like to have everything upgraded thats all. For every one 'fix' they tell you about, there are likely 50 they don't
