I'm going to have to do this when I get my car back. I'm interested to know how to add custom POIs. I tried following a guide on the web but failed. What format does it need to be in? One of my backoffice guys has managed to export our client database to a POI for Garmin and TomTom so I'd like to use these or work out what format they need to be in.

I did my update last week. It took two hours to do all regions available. Managed to do a work trip. Was able to listen to radio while it updated. My car was a April build but came with January maps. I see the Nov 15 specification implies free updates for 5 years. I think my build is restricted to number of updates. So pleased I can locate freebie updates myself.

I didn't realise they were that far behind, although I suppose someone has to collate the information and convert it into a format that works on these headunits.
I suspect that the mapping is done by "a company" that does maps then these are then translated to this head unit by Denon (as I think its a Denon based head unit).

help plz...can You check Your firmware if there is Croatian language...mine is for Danmark market, but i need Croatian interface...saw in dealer sloon that new verzions of PUG 308 have Croatian language and they thold me its impossible to put in ,what is very suspicious for me,they don't wanna do it because its everything ok with car ,I supose...
Just checked mine it has Hrvatski which I think is Croatian. I'm on latest firmware. Mine is a UK car. I was surprised to see Turkish in the list. I haven't added any new languages but maybe they come with the newer firmware.
Hope that helps

In service they thold me there is Western and Eastern verzion of cars and that verzion from 2015 has it all and mine is 2014 (march) doesn't and mine is for Danmark market ...but I also beleive that is on firmware...i still have 10 days warranty and i will try with them first...like my BT don't work properly or something...
I would just follow the instructions now and update yourself. If its toasted then you get it fixed under warranty. I'm sure I didn't have all languages before.

That is really good information that U didn't had all languages...I hope that new FW will help me...only now is question is it good to go directly to 5.4R8 or first 5.4R6 or something abaut i read here before...or should i updateit step by step...first 5.2 then 5.4R6 and R8??
I would go step by step. That's what I did.

sry ,maybe i borrow...if i go from 5.0 to 5.4R6 then R8 is it ok? and next question is ...after this update ...is there also voice in navigation updated? I tried to wait for new map update because i dowloaded that 2015-2 maps i saw that these are quite old HERE maps, actually these are 2014 Q4 HERE maps, and actual HERE maps are 2016 Q1 ( october 2015.)...also i found out these SMEG system navigation is actualy the same system like Mireo (*.BIN map files and also shoud work with These maps too...of course if u put right lincence in ) I just buyed this car ,but in the future i will try to convert HERE maps someday
from Igo NNG K.F.t system because they have it first :) or direct from HERE navigation wich is actually free for android phones... now this map of whole Europe is more than 10Gb!!!
I wouldn't try to load map files not intended for it. As I understand on the T9 its a Denon head unit and it runs Linux.

I did notice the map update took some time for me as I updated all regions.
What is frustrating is the lack of Mirrorlink/Car Play.

Its also odd that there is no voice command control or preset buttons you could use for calling certain numbers. I know you have contacts but its a few taps to find what you want while you are driving :(

yes that's it ...Denon is actualy Mireo based navigation ...its the same story like Igo and Becker...the same system,platform...and maps are all the same only depence what format they are,the way that they are converted...for example Becker use *.fbl map file and here we have *.BIN...(Bin files are in Mireo,Mio etc...) for maps is not importan what system runs program... for example IGO runs same maps for Windows CE (regular navi unit),and Igo for Android phones,tablets...Linux and Android are quite simmilar systems :),maps are totaly different story...different systems run same maps...only important thing is which format of map use program of navigation...u can run modified Garmin on SMEG unit...they both work on linux :)...mirror link is next update i think...there is a unit to buy on ebay and it should work... ML-210 Car WiFi Display Wireless Mirror Link Box-51.57 and Free Shipping| GearBest.com or this one with TV :) TVD-DR07 DVB-T Dual Tuner Car Digital TV Receiver Box-81.86 and Free Shipping| GearBest.com
Oddly enough I was looking at that unit from what I saw it just feeds to the video in on the display so its not a remote control as such. I want to actually control phone using touch screen. I'm happy with maps as it gets me A to B without issue. I drove to Germany using just those maps.

Be careful as a BIN file is usually a binary file, its also used for flashing memory areas or maybe encoded with extra bytes which either won't work or cause some problems if loaded. i.e. it may never boot again! You could be in endless loop loading files that are incompatible. The issue would be how do you remove once added. Its not like its a HDD you can just unplug and install elsewhere to change.

of course these maps (HERE is ex NAVTEQ) is one of the best...in Western EU will work also old map fine...problem is here on East :) where are many new roads etc,and update of maps are not quite good (names of streets, house numbers and so on),abaut mirror link I'm not sure if u can control phone thrue SMEG...only display that what is on Your phone i think...not sure if there is 2 way comunication...
I know what you mean about the east - I was in Prague and found the motorway hadn't been finished to Germany. Nice to be lost in pitch black darkness and snow coming down :(

how much does it take to upload new maps into SMEG? Can i drive ?
It took about two hours for me whilst driving. With an auto no chance of stalling and aborting update. I used a Sandisk USB Cruzer stick.
You can click on radio and drive normally while update runs. When you switch back to maps it tells you where it has got to. I've always updated all countries as its pretty easy to do just takes a while.

Yeah when I did UK France and Italy, the map version did not change.

But once I finished all of them it changed.

I did not realise that you could switch screens now. I know you couldn't on earlier firmware!
I did the last update when it was older firmware. I maybe the hardware on my SMEG that maybe different as its a newer build+GT maybe...

I think the GT was supposed to get a "X" number of updates. I think you get the update on request, but the dealer will most likely to tell you have you latest. I doubt if they want your car for two hours more...

I've asked this question before. But never got to find out. I have all our work locations in TomTom and Garmin format. Our database guy has offered to convert to the right format if I can tell him.

Ok, update complete.

I noted one oddity, the USB stick seemed to refuse to work in the centre console for the update - copy protection issue.

Worked fine in the other USB port. Took quite a while for the update. Unit rebooted 5/6 times. Went through six phases of update.

I've noticed a h/w revision, I wonder if its worth comparing hardware of the units we have. You can only get this info from the BSOD view when the f/w is updating. I noticed it references a SD location around 2Gb.

Now have SMEG5.41.B.R4 installed.

Those updates all worked just fine, even if I did have some hiccups.

As Paul said to me, they don't bring out upgrades for no reason so it's good to keep it up to date.

I've been in the car for past two days. Noticed a change in how USB music is played. I've lost my metadata display. I can only see the album info.

I have also noticed that I can see more than 4000 tracks. I thought I had this before (someone else had sane issue) I now see around 7500 tracks. Also convinced that bass and treble has changed too. Haven't seen anything else yet.

I left mine in as it rebooted quite a few times. From experience with Windows based s/w on PCs. It usually looks for the source data. My fear was that it wouldn't find it and pop up a message in French...

Thanks Paul, I managed to update to R8 following the instruction on this thread. I was wondering , is there an update on sat nav with post code search?

Thanks
If you have updated to latest then you shouldn't have an issue with post code search. You have to enter post code in town.

I've noticed mine is a bit slow Thought it was just me being too impatient..

@Ray this will be down to service provider that Peugeot use. Most in car units always get the updates too late. There is a way to import POIs but no mention anywhere how you actually set them up offline on a PC.

Update for everyone

The latest version is 5.42.B.R4. It looks like it came out last week.
Mine has been applied by dealer as I've had some strange issues (see my posts).
I cannot see any new features yet.

Its been announced on French Citroen forums but no links yet.
