After taking my e2008 to my local Peugeot garage I can confirm that there is a recall published for the vehicle in relation to the ‘Traction Battery Charger’.

After getting Peugeot Assist to recover my vehicle and take it to the Peugeot garage, they identified the issue and carried out the recall work before testing it for a couple of days (3 road tests after restarting all the systems). I was without the car for a week in total.

Having had the car back for a couple of days, I’m pleased to report that it looks like the issue has been resolved.

If you have an e2008 (or presumably an e208 as well) I’d recommend checking with Peugeot if the recall affects your vehicle, and if it is applicable booking your vehicle in as they should hopefully complete the work under the recall before you encounter the problem detailed above.

On a side note, and not something which I had done before anyway, the garage told me that you shouldn’t use an extension lead if you’re charging from a 3-pin plug charging lead as this can cause issues with the car's systems, so make sure you only use a 3 pin plug charging lead directly plugged into the plug socket if you use this method of charging.
The REAL reason you were asked not to use an extension cable/cord, is that the current being drawn can heat the extension cable/cord to the point of melting some of the plastic construction of the extension cable/cord.
The best way to avoid this problem is to fully unwind the cable/core.

my 2008e would not start yesterday , instrument panel read ELECTRIC TRACTION SYSTEM FAULT. RAC recovered and took to dealership. Dealership after me asking about recalls said there was an instrument panel recall, but couldn’t elaborate on problem.
Now told I have to wait two weeks plus before they can look at it.

I know that this has all been asked a long time ago, but did your faults ever get resolved. We have our E2008 in the garage at the moment. It has been in there since March 2023 and it has has every bit of software updated, it has had a new BSI and they can't find what the fault is. We get 3 maybe 4 days back from the dealer and all the errors are back again. At the moment it is covered by warranty, but that runs out on the 25th and we are concerned we will get the car back again for it to go wrong and then be at our cost. We have even looked today an selling the car and changing it for a Petrol. Very few places will buy it (not because of the fault) but because it is an electric and we have potentially lost £20k from its purchase price in March 2022 to now. Any advice of experience would be most welcome.

3 months ago I had the "Electric traction system fault: stop vehicle, see onboard documents" error message (in red) with the "P2C85 01" ("EV battery voltage external isolation fault") DTC - Diagnostic Trouble Code. They replaced the high voltage cable 98 329 229 80 and the car seems fine.

Hi Kate, We purchased (on finance) an e2008 in June this year and are having the same issues. Having initially trusted the dealer to fix this, i wish I had looked here before. The car has spent more time in the workshop than we have had it and the last time they had it for about 4 weeks and simply said that they had updated all the software and it should be fine as they had driven it on several occasions and the fault had not returned. The next day the keyless entry stopped working (except I could open the boot then the doors unlocked!) and two days later the traction fault returned. I am now awaiting a response from the dealer. has yours been resolved yet?

Hi, Had lots of issues with this, dealer tried all sorts of updates etc. I just got my 3 year old e2008 back yesterday after a month or more at the dealership. Apparently Peugeot advised a disconnect of main battery and full reboot and reinstall of all systems. Hoping this has fixed it. (had courtesy car e2008 2003 and this also displayed the warning but was still driveable and warning disappeared after a few seconds. so there is a problem with this car.

This warning light / fault happened to me today with my Peugeot 208e after charging it. I was 40 minutes away from home in 1 degrees weather freezing cold not knowing what to do. When ringing Peugeot they advised me to get it recovered. When the RAC come the warning light disappeared but when looking there was to much power generating in the battery when I explained to the man I always use these chargers he stated that it’s the power in the battery and got nothing to do with the chargers. He said he has had a lot of cars that this has happened to and luckily for me my car is still under warranty. He said I could drive it to the dealership/ garage with him behind incase my car cut out. So we swiftly got it there and now it’s parked up on there car park for a lovely surprise tomorrow. When asking Peugeot for a courtesy car they said Peugeot courtesy cars get booked up in advanced. For someone who is a nurse in a hospital and also relies on their car to get to and from work this is disgraceful. But happy I weren’t driving when this fault come up.
