Peugeot 407 Android Head Unit Compatibility

Yes it will fit and work with ANY Peugeot 407, whether that's saloon, coupe or SW, with whatever engine.
The only issue you will run into is if you have an RT3 / RT4 / RT5 or other sat nav factory units - then you will need to reprogram the car and tell it that it has an RD4 fitted instead by using Peugeot Planet Diagnostics.

However that is not the biggest concern, the problem a lot of users have found is that operation of the parking sensor mute button can brick the BSI requiring extensive repair work. So that scared me off from going down the Android upgrade path.

However, that didn't stop me... I have installed an 10.1" android headunit :D

This is a rough fit (hence not clipped / screwed in). I have since placed the factory screen properly. The way it works is the original screen on top of the centre console controls ALL the vehicle functions such as parking sensors, error messages, doors open etc as per usual using a Connects2 CTSPG013 and allows me to control that screen.

I went from an RT4 to Android headunit, so I used the factory installed GPS sensor and even phone antennae!

That connects2 box also lets the steering wheel controls work with the android head-unit and outputs parking sensor sounds through the speakers while also control the factory screen through the steering wheel controls.

There is also a Pioneer 4 channel amp hidden inside the dash with a fabricated cubby hole with with wireless charger for mobile phones to be installed where the original headunit would go (got measurements slightly off by 5mm so couldn't fit it annoyingly!)

The reason I haven't posted this up as it's still a work in progress, still left to do:

1. i used the cheapest android headunit to mockup with a view to install a proper unit, which I ordered but seller sent me the wrong item and the new-new seller is messing me around.... How hard could ordering a decent android headunit be.... this has delayed me by an astounding 3 months! Also, make sure it's fully specced up, the cheapest units are almost unusable. Also make sure you pay using a decent credit card, Aliexpress did not refund me full amount and expected me to pay for shipping back. I claimed on credit card and got an instant full refund.

2. Pretty boring looking at the date/time on the factory screen. I've found a workaround using the controller from a early 607, which I've fabricated into the centre console.... will be installing with the new android headunit when it decides to arrive

3. Integrate original RT4 microphone into android headunit.
That looks an excellent setup BiGK!

I'm definitely tempted to put an Android unit in & have watched a good video on YouTube by Adrian Dragan installing such on a 407 where everything that displayed on the small dashboard display could be shown the Android unit. All steering wheel controls operated as normal

Mine has the standard radio/CD

My reasons for being interested to make such a change are;
  • to be able to use my phone through the unit & stream music
  • to add a usb input functionality for music mainly, but charging also
  • satnav (have Google maps on Android phone but standard stereo won't allow Bluetooth streaming, unlike the 2013 308sw), noting that touching multimedia screen re navigation avoids the issue of touching a phone screen now made illegal in the UK on the move..., but seems ok to touch an inbuilt touchscreen...
  • DAB radio
  • to integrate a rear view camera (anyone added a switchable front camera?)
  • adding parking sensors F/R if straightforward to do so
  • to be able to play video for my 3 yr old twins (when stationery of course..)
  • add diagnostics
  • add Hard Drive
  • bringing the car up to date

Also think worth doing while units still available for the 407

Any suggestions as to 'the' model to go for?

I bought and installed the 'Ljda' Android 10, It works perfectly fine and I cant stream music from my phone and more.. it's navigation is very good with Waze app (for my country at least). Anyway it works very well, I'd recommend. The only problem I have is something with the screen where the parking / drive indicator is, it flickers when I change to a certain mode to know what's my gas milage, But I guess it's probably a wiring problem (I asked from some garage to install it).
Thanks for sharing! Sounds a good unit. So you can stream music.
Reversing camera?
Parking sensors?
How is the sound quality?
You can access the trip computer information?

After all the research, I bought a PX5 Android 10 head unit with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage + Octa Core CPU. Just installed it today. I didn't get reverse camera or parking sensor. I was initially checking AliExpress but steered away from it to avoid known issues with AliExpress & it's sellers. So I bought it off eBay. It could be the same sellers on eBay but at least it is a safer platform with PayPal protection etc.

Tested out Radio, Bluetooth A2DP+Calls, Playing music off CD + Memory Card, Streaming content via apps like YouTube over WiFi, Google Maps navigation etc.. all working good. Please let me know if you'd like to test something.

Couple of issues so far.
  1. Native navigation app is not picking up the GPS, keeps searching for GPS connectivity.
  2. WiFi drops off frequently while tethering from phone or connecting to Home WiFi. (Initially WiFi didn't turn on at all, but started working after a system reboot)
I've been doing this research for a while but this forum gave me the final push to buy it. Great discussion & thoughts. Thanks to you all 😊

Here are some finished photos.
Looks good. Well done. Take long to fit? How's the sound compared with original head unit?
Can you please share the ebay link as couldn't find the PX5 mentioned
