The particulate emission filter warning light has come on a few times, but it doesn't stay on all the time. I don't know what or where it is and more importantly what to do about it. any help will be appreciated.

Give it a bit of wellie down the nearest motorway and back. Half an hour at reasonable speed and revs should clear it. If not try longer and faster. Don't ignore the problem or it could cost you a few oncers.

If it is only particle filter warning then the car needs a good run to regenerate filter. If it's the engine management then you need to read codes
