heater flaps

couldn't agree more. RTN Doncaster brilliant bunch of guys. One Peugeot expert and his Citroen expert. Colin just makes the tea hahaha
True what they say, I had mine Friday evening 3rd November. 15 mins complete dash out, didn't recognise car at all. Went in a big thick coat came back in a tee shirt.
Brilliant cheers lads

have you asked your pug dealer how much to repair, I had mine done at the dealership local to me about this time last year, the flaps had stuck on cold air so as you can guess it was very cold in the car at this time of the year, anyway it cost ÂŁ500 and took a couple of days but I did have a courtesy car, I thought that was a fair price concidering all the dash has to come out, hope you get it sorted

I'm looking for somebody with broken matrix flap from 407 duar air con. The one that gives you chilli air on driver side (UK) in the winter when broken. Could everybody take a look into the deepest boxes and bottom shelves in your garages and sheds if you still got it and never made it to the point of trying to put it back together. Can pay some money for it including next day delivery service. I'm plastic fabricator and 100% sure I can find simplier and long lasting diy solution for fixing this bl**dy thing. Thank you all

I currently based in Biggleswade, Which isn't too far from Cambridge, South of England and have carried out this repair myself on the passenger side (to date)

I can report that it's working flawlessly now in my car and therefore if anyone else is after someone this part of England to carry out the work, I could do this.

That said, My method of repair is slightly different.

Rather than gluing the cut out back into place, I used a little bit of plastic weld and then duck tape. Because, you never know when you'll need to go back into it!
Can not sent you private message, could you please message me your details mate Ta

Heater flap repairers South-West

Hello all
Bought 07 407 SW at end of Jan. Just started needing aircon and had problems.
Had it regassed, ok for a few weeks then only warm air on driver side and coldish air passenger side. Yesterday only warm air both sides. Had it looked at by aircon engineer, said leak from condenser. Couldn't change it because aluminium pipes steel fixing seized solid. Said may break them and v expensive to replace. Put in 'extreme duty sealer'. Also said flaps broken. Could anyone recommend a repairer in the South West, preferably Weston-super-Mare area who could do the flap repair at a reasonable cost ?

I just fixed mine by pulling out the large top vent, removing the top flap motor so you can rotate the top flap out out of the way to view the broken lower flap shaft. Remove lower flap motor and rotate it all back into position. With a length of steel rod with the end ground to a thin spatular shape on the end, pushed some fast (1 minute) 2K plastic repair adhesive in the fracture, held the join together using the same spatular to compress the joint while it set. Been fine. So long as the break is relatively clean, I can't see a need to cut out the side, you can access it all from the top vent. Just use the proper 2K black plastic repair adhesive the bodyshop guys would glue broken brackets back onto bumpers etc and mix it manually instead of the spiral nozzle they usually come with.

Thanks - that's good to know. Wasn't looking forward to cutting the side.
Hopefully can avoid that

No problem. What will help greatly is gaffa taping a light on the outside of the windscreen pointing down where the flaps are as the windscreen is a bit in the way once you're also holding a torch. Ideally you could drop a light bulb on some string into the heater box too.

Awesome tips. Thanks

Did a video here explaining how to fix the lower flap through the top vent and so not having to cut open the side of the heater box. I just did the passenger side yesterday too as it had a small crack in it developing and wasn't quite fully closing to 100% cold. I snapped it completely so I could hook the jubilee clip over it, put a dab of epoxy in the crack, screwed the clip down and job done. Took about 15 minutes as it's a little easier to do the glovebox removal than the kneebag on the driver side.

Just got back from having my flaps done at RTN in Doncaster - absolutely fantastic bunch of guys. Within 15min (honest) they had my dash and steering completely out and had started fixing the flaps. I was back on the road and heading south within an hour and a half! He charged me ÂŁ250 for both flaps to be fixed (I'd have happily paid double!!!!).

I can't reccommend these guys enough - fantastic! :thumb::thumb::thumb:
they had the dash out in 15 mins?
