I dug out an old diagnostics laptop running diagbox 7.92 but it will not connect to the car.
The issue is clearly the peugeot/citroen part I've attached in the pic as its at the point of plugging this into the USB port it comes up with message "USB device not recognised"
I could buy another pretty cheap but would it solve the issue?
The parts for sale have the same item code as mine (the one in the pic)
If I can get this to connect then theoretically I could do my own Peugeot planet stuff

I've only ever used 9.68 and diagbox, while planet is legacy (needed software) within diagbox (the 9.68 version) it never worked on my engine/bsi. The crossover point for planet to diagbox is roughly 2010'ish and some vehicle both work, but not concurrently (in one session either planet or diagbox but not both, they interfere with each other).

It might be firmware in use (not sure) ?
The USB port speed is something I have vague memory about... but not the settings or if applicable to Lexia.
And I have never used the native versions, just VM ones.

Hope this is useful.

@Gibbo Thats great, I'm just faffing around with the laptop now. Could you send me a link or something to get a fully working VM diagbox that I can download onto the machine then I just need to source a new cable and if all goes well I can then use it for myself and others in the area as I seem to be a bit isolated in the north and nobody else has it or replies

Thanks
