Another guide. This time downloading and installing the virtual (VM) version of Diagbox 9

This is a totally free version that doesn't need any manual installing or activating.

Tested on an i3 laptop with 8Gb RAM, 256Gb SSD and Windows 10 64 bit.
This should be considered the basic minimum spec required.

ONE ITEM TO NOTE: Diagbox 9 doesn't work on some older cables (2011-2013). Run the PSA checker tool and it may give you a build date.

When I plug the Lexia into my PC it shows that there is an issue with the driver, going into control panel I have a yellow pling, it's asking for the driver to be updated, but I don't know where to find the driver, I also don't appear to be able to screen print when in the VM so that I can show you.
Sorry very new to Windows if I'm missing something obvious

I'm having a bit of a headache. I have a rev C cable which works on diagbox 7 on my 307 fine.

I am trying fantomel's version on VM 9.68, the VM recognises Interface, first it says connect a vci and then another screen comes up connect to car. I connected it but it doesn't pickup the VIN or establish communication, I have typed in the VIN but no dialogue to ECUs.

I have checked PSA interface checker v3 and I have firmware version is 4.3.7 2017 and serial shows rev C.

Any suggestions?

If Diagbox doesn't read the VIN it means it's not communicating with the BSI. If that's the case I wouldn't waste my time typing in the VIN because it is unlikely to work. I suggest you have a close look at the car's OBD connector. It is common for the pins on this connector to be damaged. The Lexia 3 connector has smaller pins than a lot generic scanners so it is often the case that when the car's OBD connector is damaged a generic scanner works but the Lexia 3 doesn't

Greetings form France

I'm joining the party - Looking for a solution to talk to my 2012 5008 1.6HDI.

I've prepared the VM according to Fantomel's guide and all seems ok (great). Now I'm looking for a cable, but it seems it's not that straight forward (?). Links in previous posts are no longer valid or out of stock. Can anybody help with a link to one that's in stock!

Is this one OK for example?

Only this version is in stock...

The drivers for the normal Lexia 3 are pre-installed on the virtual machine.

All the VM versions of Diagbox are based on VMware. The best way to use these is start the VM before you connected the Lexia 3. Then when you connect the Lexia 3 to the USB port the OS will ask you if you want to connect it to the Host or Guest.

Hi

I have an issue with my Lexia setup - in Windows 11 64 bit (my VM host environment) when I plug the lexia unit in, device manager shows an Unknown Device with a yellow warning triangle under Other Devices, and there is no popup in the VMware allow pass through of the USB device - any thoughts how I can get this working?

HI I bought a full chip version (ÂŁ85) from AliE. I have the Fantomine VM for Diagbox 9.86 working fine. I also have the interface detected in the VM. I checked the firmware version of the interface is 4.3.7. I reflashed it with the same version also. Issue I am experiencing is that it cannot read the car at all. When Autodetect is on, i hear clicks from the interface, but it fails to read the car. Car is on with Engine running. What could it be, before i say, its bad luck, and i got a faulty cable? I do not have other car to try unfortunately. Car is 2013 Peugeot 208

It sounds like your PC is communicating okay with your Lexia so you need to check the connection to the car's OBD port.

Note:
Diagbox will automatically change the Lexia firmware to match the version of Diagbox. You have the correct firmware installed for Diagbox 9.86.

Have you tried a different scanner to confirm that your car's OBD port is working properly.

If you have a multimeter it would also be worth checking the resistance at the car's OBD connector:
(i) Between pins 6 and 14 should be 60 Ohms
(ii) Between pins 3 and 8 should be 120 Ohms
Note you need the car's battery disconnected to do this.

Gibbo, thanks for this! Was in a pinch yesterday with the misses car throwing errors before a road trip. I have the cable as I used to be a lot more active on the forum, but hadn’t used it in 3/4 years. With this I was able to get operational in about 10 mins start to finish, and flash my Lexia cable to the latest version! Got the faults read and panic over! I know fantonel(?) put it together but you assembling all the parts helped me no end! Thanks again!

Hi Community,
I'm looking at using DiagBox v9 on my computer.
My PC: 16 Go RAM, 4 physical cores (8 logical), Windows 8.1, processors i7
Question 1: Is this configuration is suitable?

I understand, that the use with virtual machine does not require fees (maybe just a donation).
My car is a 308 SW, Year Model 2015, 1.6 120HP, BlueHDI
Question2: Will Diagbox V9 will allow me to reset errors?
I'm thinking of:
1. Reseting kms after EOLYS tank refill
2. Tell ECU that AdBlue tank has been changed.

Regarding hardware to connect to the car.
on www.psa-diag.fr, I saw recommended Hardware interface. Links points to AliExpress, hardware is currently at 86.99ÂŁ (52% discount, ends 11/07/2025 23.59)
but accros the different vendors, there are variations of prices for hardware that seems to look identical.
But also one at 50ÂŁ: 50ÂŁ version
Question3: What are the key parameters to look at when buying these hardware?

Kind Regards

Can't help you with the hardware, but I used to used diagbox 8 on my 2014 308 T9 MKII so you should be fine with diagbox 9

Unfortunately, it is not possible to use the virtual version of Diagbox on the internet. You need the official version of Diagbox to do this but it is only available to registered garages. Until late last year most people were able to register to use the online version of Servicebox which allowed you to pay to download Diagbox and get access to the server. However, Stallantis now only allow registered garages to register.
