Hi folks,

Has anyone had the experience of removing the BSI? I have removed the glove box and can access it (which isnt that gr8 due to poor design). I have looked at servicebox which shows its held with plastic brackets but I cant seem to work out as there are so many wiring looms in the way.

I dont suppose they expect the dashboard to come out.. I still havent got my interior light working.. which went bad when I tried to replace the foot well bulbs to led. I have reversed it now but interior (central dome light) still not working. There is current to it as it flashes when the door opens so could be something else at BSI end.

Any thoughts or pointers will be greatly appreciated.

Most of the models the BSI clips into a cradle.

Normally there are a couple of clips at the bottom and once these are released you can pull bottom of BSI forward then it pushes up to release top of BSI.

That's how it was on daughters 207 and my old 307

Thanks windy1603, the trouble is that the BSI is on the passenger side of the dashboard in an upwards direction so even removing the glovebox doesnt do anything..

Im determined to get this fixed.. and as Denis quite rightly pointed out, messing with electric on the newer cars is deffo a no no.. as its not just the fuses.. it messes the computers/chips too.. all I did was to replace the bulbs in the sunvisor to led and Ive lost my interior lights.. wish I had not bothered now and hugely regret it.. hey ho

The BSI will come out but they are not easy in some cases you need to unclip it from its mount and work the plugs out as you go pulling it down and releasing plugs as you go they are all in a poor position not just 508 ones !

The dash does not need to come out.

I did a similar thing when installing a DAB from F7 on the BSI. You will have probably blown a fuse on the BSI. They are not easy to get to and you will need to pull each one individually to check (checking for continuity of the fuse in situ gives parallel paths and may appear ok when it isnt. I am fairly certain that if you have damaged the BSI there would be other symptoms as well.
Replacing the BSI will involve a trip to the dealers unless you have all the diagnostic tools and knowledge. Keep going...

Thanks guys.. yes I have followed the BSI reset procedure and still no luck.. replaced the fuse that went bad the first time when I fiddled with the sunvisor bulb but lights still off..

..due to the awkward location it needs to be a summer job.. the cold weather will make it harder as it is.. will revive the discussion and update in summer..
