Andriod Tablet Install Help Needed

Hey guys, hope we are all doing well!

So I am soon purchasing a 207cc which I would like to add an android multimedia system to. From what I have seen, some of these tablets don't allow steering controls, and some people have issue resetting the time and date after installing. I realise I will have to buy one specific for my car, as it will need to fit nicely. There is some that sit above the air con vents and some that sit below, replacing the radio section.

I was wondering if anyone has installed one of these in their 207? How did you find functionality loss, was there any? I did see some chip you can buy to allow steering wheel controls but before I fork out for anything, I just wanted to check if there is a good one I can buy that won't lose any functionality, parking sensors, steering controls, time/date adjustment etc. Looking for some recommendations.

Also, I believe most of these need connecting to your phones internet to work with google maps etc, is there any tablets that work the same as a phone? While not massively fussed about phone call functionality it would be a bonus but my main focus is on having google maps available and playing music without my phone present. I don't mind getting a ÂŁ5/month sim from Giffgaff just to use the data or whatever is needed to have it as a standalone unit unreliant on my phone as the whole point of me getting one is to not use my phone for these things, plus it's just a lot nicer to use than my phone/the old radio.

I will also be buying a front dash cam, not sure if that's going to cause issues or will be a pain to try and set up.

Thanks guys!

The best way is to buy a fitting kit like this - Connects2 CTKPE04 Peugeot 207 307 Expert 2005> Black Double DIN Reversing Sensor Fitting Kit - which will keep the steering wheel controls and parking sensor functionality, and which will then allow you to fit a standard double-DIN headunit like this Sony XAV-AX5650 6.95" Double DIN Touchscreen Bluetooth DAB Apple CarPlay Android Auto HDMI Weblink Cast - choose this model specifically because it has a capacitive touchscreen (like the one in your phone).

Plug everything in, and voila.

Note that a phone is still required for the unit to operate - when you use Google Maps etc. then these units use the phone for the processing (via Android Auto). But it'll charge your phone as your drive, and only a minimal amount of data is consumed.

The beauty of this approach, is that the unit doesn't become out of date. Every time you buy a new phone, you get the new functionality and features in your car via Android Auto.
