Hi

Got a problem with one of my xenon light on my 807, 2.0 HDI 2004 model. It startet out as a weird noise coming from one of the xenon lights (rrrrrrrr-sound/ratteling  ).

After a while after that:
When i start the car the lights come on, but one goes off after a few seconds.
I changed the xenon light in that lamp, but the problem persist :(
The strange sound is gone

Anyone had this problem?

Control unit failure?

Hi again
Tougt I`ll give an update.

The ballast/Control unit is bad and I need to replace it.

Since I`ve been driving around with only one xenon light, I have turned on the fog lights too, but they dont work any more  The fuse is OK, but I replaced it to be shure :(

Anyone got an idea?

(some other faults is: Backing lights and parking assist is permanently on most of the time)

Anyone has got an idea?

Bit of a long shot, check the rubber pipe to the rear washers hasn't blown apart at the junction behind the driver's side rear lights, when it does all the adjacent wiring gets soaked. Remove the trim on the rear corner to access, use tie wraps to better secure the pipe to the junction sleeve.

Sorry, its been a long time since I`ve been here. I got rammed in the rear at holiday in Denmark earlier this year. Got Insurance money and are ready to fix :D

I found out that the foglight where got blown bulbs :mad: Just replaced them and it seems OK for now.

The Xenon ballast control module is a goner. Recon there is no hope in fixing that my self, unless someone here gives me a miracle advise

This hurts!

Now I am totally lost :(

The Xenon module was fine. The new one did not fix the lighs.
I have disconnected the plugs and taken off the tape(and stuff) from the wires that goes to the inside of the car. Taken out the "brain" under hood. Cant fint anything wrong in wiring
Can I just take some wiring and make a connection to the lights on the other side, or is that too much for the wiring or...?

The parking assistant is always on/always off, the same with the backing up lights. Found a briken wire near the parking switch, but this goes to the wheel (or there about).

Is the Bsi.

I have used PP, but cant find anything fault codes or wrong there.

I need my lights, both xenon and backing up lights :nono:

Argh!

I cant dismantle the whole car to search for a broken wire.

I appreaciate any comments - Sorry for my excellent English :thumb:

Doubt if the BSI is at fault. Trace the wires back from the headlamp to the engine fusebox and check for continuity. Check the connections within the headlamp. Don't use the good supply to feed the other lamp, fuse could blow and even a fire is possible. Has to be a simple fault as one relay feeds both lamps after splitting into two fuses F9 & F10 but this is for normal headlamps, Xenons may be different.
Disconnect reverse switch on gearbox and see if symptoms change. If no change probably the earths on the lamps or to the body are defective.

I just changed the switch on the top of the gearbox, so it should be fine. I suspect that there is a couple of damaged wires on the back of the car that could get +/- that causes the parking assist/lamp problem. Or, could it be that the "leveler" inside the gearbox is something wrong with? The clutch is old and ready for replacement.

The fuse for the xenon lights is nr 1 in the fuse box under hood, and goes for both lights. I took off the whole headlamp and connected it to the plug on the other side, and I hear the familiar sound of the headlamp leveler, which seems OK, but the lamp just came on, very week for half a sec. Now the fault must be inside of the headlight assembly, I recon. Can I test the bulb with a voltmeter/ohm it or something, before I buy an other new lamp. Those are fairly expensive.
OR, is it easy/possible to replace the xenon with halogen bulbs over a relay?

An other curiosity is that the electrical mirrors works now and then, but this ain`t really a problem. There is also no parking lights, nothing happens when I switch to parking lights, only the driving lights don't go off. (there is light in the parking lights, the long thin lights under the headlights assembly) Can it be linked the other problems?

BTW, thanks for your insight on these matters wynb. Much appreaciated! :thumb: :)

Not sure on testing the Xenon bulb. Check the operation of the reverse switch using a bulb or multimeter. The mirror switch does get a bit erratic with age switch side to side as well as front to back to try and clean the contacts.
Not sure what the problem with the sidelights is, do they switch on and off?
If the headlamps are staying on or coming on without turning the switch the Comms unit has developed a fault. Trustme on here repairs them.
