Is there a known time when Peugeot started fitting the new belt to these engines when produced, am looking at getting a 17 or 67 plate 308?

answer is in page 4 or 5; it was during ~1h 2017

in about 4 years replacement will be needed on my car. now i have only <30000km
belt looks brand new, and i am always bringing my oil. i believe belt will be still fine after those years. but lets see
my oil pdf gets a generational refresh, quite improved parameters. i expect more ester or pao content, better ingredients.. but i have to wait until next spring to put that badboy in

Hi arronc21,

I had the timing belt, auxiliary belt, water pump belt & crankshaft oil seal replaced for ÂŁ267 labour and ÂŁ190 parts plus VAT at a decent local garage in Surrey (not Peugeot).

Mike
not bad, i heard 300-400€ complete timing belt job. at stealership

I wasn't bragging in any way, just giving an indication of what the total job might cost in the SE of England. The Peugeot dealership wanted ÂŁ499 for the timing belt only, and I didn't trust them not to inflate the bill for the other minor items !

In my limited experience, England is probably the most expensive place in Europe when it comes to garage labour charges. The SE is by far the worst.

Engine warning light on at 47,000 miles. Car in warranty still and on inspection the cam belt is crumbling. Mechanic told me a fair few Peugeot 3008 have this faulty cam belt. Courtesy car for the week and new cambelt fitted. Not charged. Surely if Peugeot knew about this issues it would be a recall ? Would the garage have known it was faulty? Not impressed with the car only bought 4 months ago

Mine is the same age with 24000 miles on it. From what I can see through the oil filler the belt looks fine but I'm planning on having the belt changed at its next service in November to be on the safe side. Even with the car under warranty I'd rather not have the hassle of a blown engine.

@Greenbook : Dealer is wrong and unprofessional.
165000 was before PSA realized there is a crumbling belt problem.
About a year ago they have decided to cut the interval to 100000 (or 6 years )
Hi save2,

Here in Australia, the 10year interval appears to still exist for the 1.2 in the 208 and 308 (81kw and 96kW) models.

Even plugging in various VINs into servicebox and looking at the service schedule document (like you attached) reveals the same interval - regardless of normal or arduous schedule. This is for three local cars I tried - one a 2015 model 208 1.2 turbo (timing kit at 165,000km/10yrs), one a 308 1.2 turbo (96kW) which had the same 165k/10yr interval and one a 2013 DS3 (non turbo). The DS3 states 180,000km/10years for the belt.

The only vehicle I can find that is at a reduced figure is the Partner 1.2 (81kW), which is set at 90,000km/6 years and lists timing belt replacement at that service interval. I guess that is due to it being a commercial vehicle.

hi

Please can someone help me?

I have a 2016 (82bhp/non turbo) puretech engine with 27k on the clock, main dealer service history then independent last year (new spark plugs and genuine total oil etc).

The cambelt looks like it does in the photos.

Is this still saveable? have I caught it early enough? (I have obviously stopped using it).

If so what do you do- merely change the cambelt? change the oil pump? take of the multivalve outlets? change the sump? how far do you go?

Has anyone managed to change the cambelt and run the car with no further issues or once the cambelt degrades do other unavoidable issues occur ?

Thanks

Phil

nice way would be - engine flush (this dilutes the oil, deposits good drainage) , then belt change.

best way is to drop the pan, and clean together with "oil pump basket". engine flush not always can unstuck the rubber particles from it.
ok thanks I was looking at belt safe flushes.

is the "oil pump basket" just the area around the oil pump? or the housing of the oil pump? Do you ever find it necessary to change or remove and dissemble the oil pump for cleaning?

thanks so much for the help and the belt part numbers !

There is a gauze strainer on the oil pump intake in the sump. This is what needs to be cleaned. It could easily be at least partially blocked by bits of rubber.
