407SW 2.0hdi (136) 2008.
Why cant you just leave it alone lol
Had the opportunity to give a few parts a clean yesterday but now have this fault code although it wasn't there before.
I removed the air temp sensor (proper caked in grime) and the other sensor located near it (possibly map sensor???) and cleaned all other removable parts near it. Removed the air box and gave it a quick clean (no fluids used) but after putting them all back on and driving for about 5 mins the error code appeared (depollution error fault). I read the code and cleared it but after about another 10 mins of driving it reappeared (done it a couple of times now). I have rechecked all parts and plugs but all seem ok, is it just a case of running for awhile for the ECU to get used to the new clean flow of air or have I missed something, thanks in advance.

I've found things like this are caused by removing a connector (even though the ignition is switched off).
The car has detected this and flagged up a fault but it should run normally as the "fault" is no longer there.
Usually disappears after 3 or 4 start ups.
The way to stop it is to disconnect the battery whenever a connector is to be removed.

Started it up about 10 times since disconnecting yesterday and it still showing up. I cant understand why cleaning the other parts would throw up this fault. I drove 27 miles 72mph @ 3000 revs in 4th gear to try and force a regen and the light stayed off but as soon as I hit traffic it came on and the car felt lumpy and there was like a hiccup before it came on. Ive disconnected the lead to the sensor and the car seems to be running a bit better so will probably replace the part and see if it helps.

Why does the car run better with it disconnected other than the technical sh*t that the spec says the part does why do you need it if it runs ok without it lol???

That code is a fault with maf wiring either it got damaged when you removed other sensors, or you may have dislodged something which has damaged sensor.

It will run without it connected as ecu will calculate a default air mass based on other settings like boost and rpm etc and it disables EGR as it cannot calculate the correct EGR %.

You may find a slight increase in fuel use and slight lag in boost with no MAF
