Hey all

Been noticing my key fob is starting to play up, sometimes the car wont respond to it when i unlock it etc and lately its been getting worse. Also sometimes it doesnt register the fob is in the car.

Guessing its the battery needs replacing, just wondering if anyone has done it or is it a dealer thing? As in handbook it says about pairing the key looks fairly simple but guessing it can be a sod lol

Cheers!

Yes, did mine last month.

Flat plastic back pops off with the help of a small bladed screwdriver and just swap the battery.

I popped the broader end of the flat plastic back insert then the edges. comes apart quite easily....no force is needed so be gentle.

PS: By 'back' I refer to the opposite of the buttons which I class as the 'front'.

Check which battery is in the fob before buying a replacement. The book says mine is a CR1620, but it's actually a CR2032.

But the display should tell you if the battery is low too according to the book.

I used a small knife blade to remove it. The book talks of a screwdriver in the cutout, but I can see no cutout.
If yours is a keyless one it would be slightly different.

Mine is the 'keyless' key fob BTW....had to remove the small emergency key from it to get into my car.

Didn't notice any warning in the display though. It just wouldn't always open the drivers door when I touched the handle....but would open the passenger by touch. It did open by pressing the key fob button but that also stopped.

I'll take that as a warning in future and immediately swap the fob battery......

PS: ...mine also took the CR2032....luckily I always have a small selection of these in my drawer....

PPS: ...worked immediately...no pairing was necessary.

Just found this in the handbook for the keyless entry:

They show releasing the back via a small access cutout which is probably better than the way I did mine. :thumb:

...and reinitialisation for the keyless system.

Al.

NB: Separate method is shown in the handbook for the standard key on a previous page to the one I've uploaded.

See next post for standard key fob proceedure....

I had to replace mine last month. I had to place the fob in the special compartment...it let me start the car. The display gave no indication that the battery was dead. I couldn't open the car keyless so had to use the physical key you flip out. The alarm then went off whilst I figured out how to open the compartment for the fob. It wouldn't start the car for a few minutes.

You can get the battery from Argos or Wilko pretty cheap easy to change yourself. With button battery you need to get the right way round. Also don't hold pressing top to bottom with fingers as you will reduce its life. Just use a tea towel or cloth so that you do not physically leave any marks/grease from hand..
