Intermittent engine management light

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has any solutions to the below.
I have an intermittent engine management light coming on the dashboard on my Peugeot 308 1.2 Puretech petrol.
There does not appear to be any pattern as to when the light comes in. When it does come on, we do not lose any power, but the cruise control stops working.
It has been happening for the last 5 years.
I have taken it to a non Peugeot garage and they have said that they can not see any issues or fault codes.
I have then taken it to a Peugeot garage a few times and they have said there are no issues and they have removed the fault.
However, it keeps coming on, and although we don’t lose power, we lose the CC function.

Anyone come across this before?

The engine management light coming on is intermittent and there is no clear pattern or reason as to why it comes on.
When the engine management light comes on, it does not lose power or anything, but the cruise control stops working completely. Cruise control won’t function and if it is being used when the engine light pops up, it stops and I have to use my foot.
Thanks,

Hi - have a look at this thread: 308 Puretech 1.2 - Engine light P0011 issues

This may be the cause of your light, but also may not be - your symptoms are the same as mine except that I did not lose cruise control. To cut a long story short - it may be a signal coming from the VVT inlet valve (oil pressure valve that controls the timing advance for increased efficiency) - may be a sticky valve or it may be clogged with debri from a deteriorating timing belt). Either way, good to get this checked.
Good luck

If the light has come on, a fault code has been recorded. All you need to do is plug it into Peugeot Planet or Diagbox and scan it to see what the issue is.

@Gibbo just to say that I had a similar issue and while the light was on I could read the fault code, but when it went off there was no trace of the code having been registered. Had to go via Peugeot customer services to force the issue with the local official service centre as they refused to do anything if they found no codes (like they did not believe now nor believe in a process of physical investigation). In the end, swapping around my two VVT valves solved my problem. However as per my earlier reply, this does not mean that the OP has the exact same cause. Would be good for them try try get the codes read when the light is on. Mine was a P00011 if memory serves (my link would confirm this).
Frustrating as hell - took 6 months of negotiations to get this sorted.

I’m having the same problem when using cruise control, mine goes into limp mode but funny enough, take the car off and on three times it goes out of limp mode and drives perfectly fine, by the time I get home the engine light will come off itself, with my 308 the engine light mostly comes on in the mornings when it’s cold and it seems to come off during the day when it’s warmed up. The car drives perfectly fine
