Immobiliser fault 2012 1.6 eHDI

Hi, hoping for some help/guidance here.

2012 1.6 e-HDI auto. Keyless entry & start.

I drove the car this morning, no problem including 1 stop. Got home, switched off engine on the button and got an immobiliser fault. Came back to the car later and it won't start.

(Other points to note; the stop start has not worked since I've had the car, and one of the keys sometimes isn't detected, waving it around and pressing the start button usually gets it working. Normally, if it unlocks the car, it will start the car, if it doesn't, it won't. The drivers side keyless entry has never worked either, passenger side and boot work fine)

The key fob unlocks the car, mirrors fold out, I get in and the usual "press brake pedal & start" message appears. I do that and nothing, not even ignition. After that, the display goes blank and nothing else happens, can't get ignition or release handbrake, but the radio will come on if I press the power button. Battery was reading 12.4v, which isn't terrible but I charged it anyway, still the same.

I've tested all fuses and tried the BSI reset procedure that I found on here, still the same.

On my diagnostic tool, on the live data, it shows the signal for the button press is fine, and it appears that the key is detected when in the reader (although this changed from yes to no momentarily when the start button is pressed). The other thing that's puzzling me is the "starting authorisation from the gearbox ecu- no" (see pictures)

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

The steering lock and ignition positive relay were the same as the faults I had.

After much testing, I replaced the under bonnet fuse/relay box (same model in a Citroen DS5) (You may need to configure it to your car using diagbox)

And the steering lock (you will need your 4 character security code, available from Peugeot main dealer or there's someone on here who can get them for a small fee)

I tried a new steering lock before changing the fuse/relay box, but that one broke too... As I was still looking for the actual cause, I ordered a steering lock emulator from Portugal. I had to de-solder the connector from the PCB of the steering lock and solder it onto the emulator. You could cut the plug off on the car side and solder the wires directly.

Some of those faults are the same as what I had. However, some are not.

I would try live data on your diagnostic tool on the immobiliser/central locking module and seeing if the keys are being detected. It should show each sensor.

Will the car start with your key in the key reader? Do you have 2 keys? Have you tried both?

Do you still have the steering lock fault? I couldn't see it on your latest list. And the ignition positive relay fault?

The symptoms seem the same as what I had. Couldn't get ignition or start, keys were being recognised by the reader but car wouldn't start.

You may get more fresh eyes and attention if you start a new thread, maybe reference this one as it's similar symptoms and mine was resolved

I'd start by getting a second hand fuse box with the same part number (ideally from the same variant of car if you don't have the means to configure it) and swap that. Clear errors and see if they are the same

Pardon our interruption...

That is what it looks like. Most places will allow you to return for a refund if it's no good, but check first.

It also could be a number of other things; BSI, steering lock (I wouldn't rule that out just yet), ADML unit (the thing that reads the keys).

This is why I suggested starting a new thread to get more detailed and specific advice. I will help out as much as I can on your thread, but I'm no expert, I came here for help myself and learned bits along the way.

You cannot use second hand steering locks or ADML units, once they are programmed to the car, they are useless in another car.

Steering lock emulator: Pardon our interruption...

No soldering required on that one, nice easy test. That and a fuse box fixed my issue.
