0w-30 is the usual for most cars today that I,ve had.

I hope someone with knowledge will answer that. I think it is something to do with extreme temperature area car is used in.

 

Some 1.2 puretech's have had PCV issues which allow excessive amount of oil into air intake and burning of this oil in the compression chamber.

 

Do you think it’s ‘fixable’?

 

I always put 0w30 in never worried putting Total etc. in as the manual.

 

But your car does not have a wet cam belt (assuming you have a 308 diesel), so the correct oil is not so critical!

 

Stellantis have been frequently changing the oil recommendation on these wretched engines and it will almost certainly NOT be the same as in your manual.

As I understand it, the most recent recommendation for the 1.2l EB2 petrol engines is 5W30 grade and has to meet specification FPW9.55535/03. The specification is the most important thing.

I would advise that you email customer service quoting your VIN and ask them what the current authorised oil is.

If you can provide me your engine code (digits 6, 7, 8 from your VIN), then I could look up what the correct oil according to the latest info from Peugeot would be for your engine.

Example engine codes for a 1.2 would be HMZ, HNS, HNN and so on.

 

The 6th 7th and 8th digits are HNS- hope this helps?

I wonder what dealers and service places use when the majority of owners go there?
I always go to dealers when under warranty where I believe oil comes out of a bulk tank.
Out of warranty at Nationwide I was given the remaining oil in the can so I could then have seen the numbers, but after the event.

 

We have a Corsa with the 1.2T Puretech with Wetbelt and the oil they advise is either Total quartz Ineo 0W-20 (OEM) or Granville 0W-20 (OE)

Marc, in the article linked to, says that because of the frequent changes he will no longer keep the document updated. That was six months ago. He specifically says do not rely on any information there and to contact a dealer for clarification.

 

Just had the wet belt done on ours at 30k and they are now using 5W-30 oil

Your dealer or Peugeot in new cars?
My Peugeot was 0w-30 but 5w was quote as alternative, but as I said dealers use what ever is in their bulk system.

 

My Vauxhall dealer who previously used 0-20w and now use 5W-30W.
As you will be aware, Vauxhall is owned by PSA now.

 

Yeah, the puppet master is Stellantis, and Vanguard out the sharks involved. Blackrock is there, just not till you look into who owns some of these other owners (and assuming it is within public knowledge).
