Hi,

As per the title, took the air filter box off and there's oil/diesel/carbon on the components under it. Any ideas what could cause this please?

Many thanks

Dry off all that fuel from the top of the injectors and leak off ppes. then see if it returns.

I had a similar problem on my 2015 model, and that was back in 2017 when it was still under warranty. Took it to Peugeot dealer and they insisted I pay them ÂŁ250 to "investigate" I might get the money back if they decided it was a warranty issue. And mine had pools of fuel.
I sorted it myself, I found a pipe from the fuel filter was very clost to the head and I managed to get a shaped bit of plastic (gutter shaped) pushed down behind it to shield it. It's not shown in your pictures, just off to the left, but it was wrapped in black foam sheet. Head is dry now and has been since I did that.

Still under warranty, then take it to them.
If not, you need to clean all the oil off with a suitable degreaser and then watch for the leak, could be a valve cover or an injector(s) seats, leak off (as mentioned), would be my thoughts initially. Assuming no DTC's or other issues happening.

Helps if you provide the Engine Designation Code from positions 6,7,8 of the VIN.

Likely be identical to a (at least for engine related components, possibly more)
PEUGEOT 308 (T9) 1.6 HDi 120 DV6FC (BHZ) 2014 - Onward
might be useful to know this is likely.

These are both covered in Peugeot servicebox online for OEM parts and information. (can be paywalled access, never sure how it works, I don't use it)

Just thought I wold help put you all out of your misery....

This fault has a TSB and is very common on certain batches of engines.

The leak originates between the cylinder head and the cam carrier. Something about not enough sealant there from factory. Or badly applied. Have had 2 in the garage recently for this.

Not to be mistaken for the seam between the two halves of the cam carrier, this is the seam between the carrier and the head.

Obviously you have to remove the carrier and cam to clean and reseal so might as well treat it to a timing belt and pump at the same time.

Good luck
