Anyone had much experience with the above? It happens pretty much daily on my car, although it does come and go. Seems to come back when pulling away in first on a slope mostly. The car then enters limp mode until (sometimes) you restart the car.

The car even stalled once when the code was active and wouldn't restart a couple times.

I've had the car looked at with Peugeot Planet thanks to Ginger Magic and we got the following info but now I'm unsure where to go next.

Fault code: P0087
Engine speed: 1028rpm
Diesel pressure: 125 bars
Diesel limited pressure: 572 bars
Pump output: 14 mm3/seconde
Diesel flow regulator voltage: 1862mV
Mileage: 42872km

Things I've already tried:

  • Replaced fuel filter
  • Replaced air filter
  • Replaced oil filter
  • Complete oil change
  • Giving it a "burnout" at high rpms

Banging my head against the wall with this one now and could really do with some pointers. Thanks in advance all.

check the wiring to the pressure sensor on the common rail I know 2.0 hdi has a common problem with a connector on the extension wire and if you cut and solder the connections out then that solves the problem, it could also be a faulty sensor amongst other things, does your can have a lift pump or a priming bulb and what injection system is it bosch or seimens

Ok so we recently tightened up one of the nuts/bolts that was next to the first injector as it seemed a little loose, also there was a fair amount of diesel leakage around that injector which we cleaned up.

However now another error code has come up P0093 Fuel system leak/large leak detected. Have checked the injector and other obvious areas but no sign of any leakage or anything glaring.:( Any ideas what it could be now?

peugeot 308 fault p0087

I have a peugeot 308 2010 1.6 hdi I had the same problem you accelerate and the managment light with fault p0087 fuel rail pressure to low would come on you couldnt accelerate or rev the car above 3000rpm however you stop the car and restart it then it fine I replaced the fuel filter and now it fine apparently on the 308 they reduce the fuel filter renewal just thought I share because I had the problem changed the fuel filter and now it fine.

Good Luck

I have replaced the fuel filter as mentioned previously, but thanks!!

Unfortunately the light came on again tonight, codes:

P1351
P0087

Running out of ideas now. Anyone got any more suggestions before I have to take it to a garage?

Edit: always happens when pulling away in first eg. in traffic jams. Sometimes feel like the car is going to stall

Have you checked the sensors as advised? The other fault is glow plugs or (rarely) the glow plug relay. It won't be the cause of the low fuel pressure though but you'll need to get that sorted too otherwise regens may become a problem.

Yeh it worth changing fuel filter regularly with my car when I had the fault it pop the management light on and then u couldn't rev above 3000 rpm and wouldn't let u accelerate so it was like it was in limp mode my fault code was p0087 which is fuel rail pressure to low now I was convinced it was the fuel filter and luckily it was but people was saying yeh it the pump.

Just come across someone with the fault p1351 on Peugeot central which someone saying the fault is ignition coil circuit control high voltage is your car diesel I mean that what some guy saying on Peugeot central if it was me I think I would look at the fuel rail sensor I think there 50 pounds might be cheaper but it quite easy to change things thinking yeh it 20 pound 50 pounds no problem but it is if you still have the problem that the problem with modern cars yeh u got diagnostic which sometimes help but there to many sensors hope you sort your problem out keep us informed it nice to have a site where they talk about the problems with the cars because sometime it helps first thing I did when I had the fault was look on here. Good luck

but if your also still getting the fault code p0087 fuel rail pressure to low it either there not enough fuel getting through or a dodgy sensor I mean there the sensor the pump injectors which seem pricey glow plugs or even the fuel rail I suppose at peugeot they might be able to tell u more but we all know they love to get you in the door and charge you a load of money anyway good luck hope you get the problem sorted.

Yeh very true last time I was down there with my car I had a problem and they was more interested in doing my service and brakes I always do my servicing because i know whats going on my car there not really a lot about the fault p1351 on the peugeot central site there guy saying taking it to peugeot and some else is saying about look at the glow plugs yeh it true what your saying though I only have a cheap diagnostic tool was thinking of getting a better one but it done the job everytime I have used it.

The P1351 error is a common one on the 1.6HDi. It's nearly always one or more failed glow plugs. You can test the relay using Planet/Diagbox and by stick a meter on it. As the glow plugs are round the back and a pain to get to it makes more sense just to replace all 4 at once.

Thanks for the responses, I'll check the glow plugs at the weekend to see if I can get rid of P1351 at least.

I'll also check the fuel rail sensor if i can manage it for P0087 but as sometimes in first gear it feels like a lack of power or bite I think if there's not enough fuel getting through or lack of pressure somewhere it must be something other than a sensor right?

Hi,

It's likely not the actual pressure sensor, but more the pressure regulator. Take the regulator out of the fuel pump and clean it in thinners, blow it out with compressed air and fit it back on. Be careful not to damage the rubber seals, so take them off first.

There is also another flow metering regulator unit in the pump so take that out and clean it too. Hopefully this will sort your problem, but if they do still persist it's likely you have a bad fuel pump.

If the filter was that dirty have you look at the strainer for the fuel pick up under the rear seat?
