Question about ECO mode of 508( '20 model)

Hi. I bought a 508(2.0 diesel, 2020's model) and rode it for about 5,500km.
The eco mode is often used, and the characteristic of eco mode is that when I take my foot off the accelerator pedal, the RPM drops to about 800, and the engine runs smoothly with very good fuel economy, which is called by freewheeling mode. Whether the speed was fast or slow, it was driven by this logic.
But recently, the RPM doesn't come down even if I take my foot off the accelerator pedal.
Anyone know the conditions for being in freewheeling mode?

800 rpm is the normal petrol engine idle speed with no pressure on the accelerator pedal. I guess eco mode would want to keep it there most of the time. However demands on the engine whilst driving would need to speed the engine up. I know when in sports mode the engine doesn’t like coming below 2000 rpm. In eco mode though if you come to a complete stop and lift off your foot it should come down towards 800. If not then something would be wrong.

There's a procedure to put the car into freewheeling mode, it's on Page 134 in my Handbook - the section on the automatic gearbox. My car doesn't appear to be in freewheeling mode when I use Eco, the Handbook doesn't make it clear whether freewheeling is active in Eco mode as standard or if the owner has to turn it on as described in the handbook.
I would find the procedure in your Handbook and see if that turns it back on.

Thank you. However, there is no detailed explanation of freewheeling in my car's manual.

Sorry if this answer is slightly vague, But I can tell you what my 508 sw does when the gearbox is in ECO.
If I'm driving and I take my foot off the gas the car will idle (800 rpm) as long as the road is flat or slightly down hill, ie the speed is staying more or less the same, if it starts speeding up, ie down a hill, it will engage the gear again to control the speed. If I take my foot off the gas and apply the brake, it seems to depend on how hard I brake, braking gently is will freewheel, brake harder it will engage the gearbox and change down the gears to assist slowing using engine braking. The other thing I have noticed now it is getting cooler here in the UK, the stop start only kicks in when the car has properly warmed up, and I think it also doesnt freewheel until it has warmed up.

Ah OK. It’ll be tomorrow now as its charging at the mo. Mine is the hybrid version and the iCockpit display is the ‘personal’ one with hybrid on the left and rev counter on the right. The rev counter is a white horizontal strip in this display and at the top of the strip between 850 and 1000 I guess is where the blue line starts and goes off to the right. If I’ve whetted your appetite you’ll have to wait for the pic! I had thought you were in that display as you described the revs above.
