I keep getting the check engine light and that it needs repair after a long drive, I went to a local mech and we scanned the error code and it came to be P0011(00) - Temporary - Inlet Camshaft Dephaser and he cleared the error code but after driving again the check engine came back, it has been coming up and going away on its own the past few weeks. What could be the issue? Is this a serious warning? The mech mentioned that they will do flashing during my next service and if it does not go away, they will consider replacing/cleaning the solenoid sensors (not sure I remember the solenoid part correctly). Anyone else had a similar problem?

The point Stewart raises about the cam belt disintegrating is a serious and common issue that can cause engine failure by oil starvation. If you are unsure if your belt has been changed, I recommend you get it looked at asap. If it has been changed, unless the oil sump strainer has also been thoroughly cleared of belt debris, small particles may continue find their way to partially block the mesh filters on each of the cam phaser solenoids. P0011 is a symptom of this that affects both solenoids, inlet and exhaust, and in my experence this does happen more often on long motorway journeys. If you are handy with a spanner, the exhaust solenoid is very easy to remove and check/clean, the inlet is a bit more of a faff as it sits between engine and bulkhead.

Speed Test
it was the timing belt disintegrating and debris in the oil blocking the inlet dephaser. New timing belt and inlet dephaser fixed the issue.
