Peugeot 206 1.4 2000 idle problem

I have a 2000 1.4 peugeot 206 GLX, the car has a bad idle which gets better as it gets warmer, I changed the car battery because it came close to cutting out when anything electrical is turned on, that stopped the surge and now the idel problem is only there when cold, I have also changed the coil pack and check there is a spark on all plugs.

So far I have had different suggestions from friends, air leak on inlet manifold, sticking throttle body, temp sender faulty, to the more serious of worn valves.

The cooling fan on the car comes on at approx 85 if that info is of any help, heater works and gives out plenty.

All help and suggestions welcome with thanks.

The cooling fan cutting in at 85 degrees gives a clue here, it's too soon, and indicates a faulty coolant temperature sender, the one that gives the signal to the ECU for fuelling, it's probably underfuelling at idle speed, the sender is located on the cylinder head behind the other sender which controls the dashboard temperature gauge.

The thermostat is not due to open until 89 degrees, the cooling fan until around 95+ degrees, so try replacing the sender, I read that it's the only item you haven't investigated.

If the engine performs well after warm up, it's unlikely there is any fault with the valves, any problem here would cause backfires if their clearances are too tight, or a noisy "chattering" if clearances are too wide, but if the car has covered a high mileage, it would be good practice to remove the rocker cover and check them with feeler gauges anyway.

Hi, thank you for your reply, I changed both sender units on top of the thermostat housing, also changed thermostat as well, did not make any difference, with engine off with ignition on by unplugging the front nearest the radiator sender unit bought on the cooling fan as expected.
disconnected the solenoid below the air idle valve whilst running makes the revs shoot up to 2000rpm if that gives any indications of a fault, but I have tried replacing this solenoid with one off a working 1.1 peugeot 206 and one off a 2002 1.4 peugeot 206 but no change.
Also cleaned the throttle body and components with carb cleaner, the only sender I have not changed is the grey sender unit that is in the bottom of the throttle body though I do not know what it is for.

Hi, thought I would try one last test before taking it for a diagnostic check, I took the spring clips off all the injector plugs, then one by one plulling the plugs off whilst the engine running. Starting at the cam belt end working towards the gearbox end. made no difference till I got to the last injector gearbox end and made no difference al all, with all the others the engine cut out. Am I right in suggesting that I have come across the faulty injector or would people think that it may be a faulty wire
