It's as little as ÂŁ40 at Hellfrauds Autocentres, so in your position I would say to them "replace the coolant please", which is very easy. Some things just aren't worth the effort of trying to save 10 or 15 quid.
My best advice is 'don't'. It's a sealed system. Once the tiny amount of O2 held in the water is used up, no further corrosion can occur. Our family Ford Focus was scrapped at 21yrs old and over 160,000 miles, still with its original pink coolant. I have no intention of ever changing the coolant in its replacement Pug 2008.
