No sound - car speakers stuck on mute

French electrics, don't you just love 'em!! I thought dodgy electrical problems had been overcome years ago, but if we are going to start having issues everytime it rains, and engines cutting out when it's a hot day and the air con is on, there are going to be more and more unhappy owners.

Not had it happen to mine, but as it seems to occur in a hot climate, as well as in heavy rain, it sounds as if the weather conditions may not be the issue. Possibly a software glitch, or the notorious French vehicle electrical gremlins have crept into the 3008. Removing the positive battery cable for a few seconds might well cure it by rebooting the systems.

Definitely sounds like a software issue then, but glad you got it sorted out by disconnecting the battery. Did you have to reinititalise the electric windows/roof, and did you lose all your previous profile settings??

Drover, I think some have successfully used larger flash drives, but 4gb and 8gb are the maximum I use. I have found if I use larger drives I end up with literally hundreds of album/music files, and have to spend ages scrolling through what I want. The 3008 doesn't seem to display them in a very logical way, and sorting them using the touchscreen, or arranging them alphabetically on the flash drive doesn't seem to help.

No I hate iTunes, finding it really confusing to use. In fact any piece of technology with the name of a fruit in the title gets a wide berth in my household!! All my music is on USB's, my phone, and the Sony equivalent of an iPod, ripped from the old CD's and MP3 downloads I have purchased. I find that much easier. What would be even better is an on-board (64gb or so) hard drive in the 3008, where you could just upload all your music to the car, and not worry about USBs and Bluetooth streaming.

Focal is a 10 speaker & subwoofer set up with an active 12 way 515w premium amplifier. I haven't yet experienced it cutting out, even when the system is under load from climate, wipers, heated rear screen etc. However, I wouldn't rule that out as a possible cause, although I think dodgy software is also a likely culprit.

I was going to post the same idea as Miks last night, but got distracted by something, and forgot. Disconnecting the positive cable for a few seconds cures a lot of issues, although be careful not to leave it disconnected too long in case you have to reset window memory etc.

I'm still running the software that came with the car in March and have only experienced the Focal muted speakers once, which was solved by a quick reboot of the system. If it is software that has caused your issue, then it could be a bug in a later version. It will be interesting to hear what Peugeot have to say, and I hope they sort it out for you quickly.
