Hi

The sound when pulling away does it sound like a stone stuck in the alloy ? As mine made this noise and it turned out it needed a new rear beam as it was faulty.

 

It sounds as though it's coming from the rear definitely, not the alloy. Could be a faulty rear beam in mine? I'll ask the dealer when I am near by.

Yh if its coming from the rear then it maybe a faulty rear beam like mine. Have you gone over any kerbs etc. ? As this can trigger off the noise from the rear beam to cause the fault. Mines a 64 plate .

 

No mate, never went over any kerbs etc and mine is a 15 plate.

Have you gone over kerbs at an awkward angle or hit a pothole ? As it seems to trigger off the rear beam fault quite easily. I would pop in and mention this to your Peugeot dealer. Many dealerships are not aware of the faulty beam.

 

If they say they have never heard of it ask them to check on there system with technical.

 

Mine does this it's frustrating. I'm busy atm but will be taking my car to Peugeot next week for them to have a look at it. I can replicate the noise by swirving gently it's the suspension I suspect or in that area.

 

Had a listen tonight and its a metallic rattle at the rear of the car, and it also sounds as though something is rubbing when the car is moving again at the rear.

 

A creaking noise almost like the sound of the Heatshield rattling against the exhaust is how I describe it.

 

Yep exactly how I would describe mine too mate.

 

My car had the same noise from about November last year . They replaced the rear beam with a modified part in April this year as two pieces of metal on the rear beam were grinding against each other.

 

Take you car down to your local Peugeot dealership to get them to check.

 

New rear axle has been ordered straight away. Couldn't be happier with the service from Robins and Day in Newcastle.

I'll be taking my car to Swansea Peugeot after work tomorrow fingers crossed the same outcome glad your having yours fixed.

 

They said it's a known issue and the new axels solve the problem.

 

I have a similar rattle. I thought it was my exhaust. As I had my accident last year I wonder if my beam is faulty because of that too.

I go over lots of potholes and it seems really bad recently. I have newish tyres at correct inflation so was wondering if I had a suspension fault.

 

Hi ShereKhan I would take it to a Peugeot dealership and see what they say. Explain that you are aware of a fault with the rear beam and could they have a look.

 

My car is booked in for 2 weeks Friday to have a look at the car they said they are aware of the problem and usually just change the axle but was told they want to check 100% that's the problem! It's just annoying I have to wait so long just for a yes or no! The noise is annoying and embarrassing on such a new car.

 

I have the same issue with my 308 Allure, it is only registered in January 2015 but has a what's best described as a tinny knock under the chassis, as if a stone is hitting the exhaust. On checks by Peugeot dealership it has been decided a new rear axle is required, hopefully under warranty. The car has only done 19000 miles from new.
Maybe Peugeot know there's an issue with these axles???

Peugeot has known and solved this issue by producing a new rear axle by January 2016. Go to your dealer and ask to the technical director who receives flash/attention documents from Peugeot.

 

Thanks for this, on the report it said new axle as per TSB B3DW0105Q0.

Does this apply to all models or specific models/VIN series?

I had the AA out (lease company insisted) they have found that the rear springs are making the noise on my car.

 

Hi is this is this a common fault with the rear axle as i have a November 14 2.0 Bluehdi. I have not noticed any noise yet on mine but will listen out for it now.

 

Hi it is a common fault with them. I would not worry about it unless it happens to you.
