Have a Peugeot 3008 PHEV, bought new in Jan 2022.

Trying to update the maps in the satnav. It is the upload into the car which is killing me. I've managed to do it solely for my own country (150 MB) and that alone took around 30 mins. Now I have a satnav which only knows about one country. The reason is that this is the way the software works: The countries you do not select for map update will be deleted. To be fair, the UI actually warns me be about this.

Before I started my update I had a satnav with all European countries. Possibly not with the latest maps, but at least they were there. Now I have only a single country.

I would like to get at least my own country and my neighboring countries. That will be around 3-4 GB.

The problem is: The upload into the car never finishes !! I've left it on for 2-3 hours.

I've tested my USB stick to find out if it has a perf problem. In fact it has pretty stellar read performance: Around 150 MB/s. So no problem there.

I've read some advice which is to do one country at a time. This, I don't think will work. The reason is that the software seems to be stupid enough to compound the time it takes. Example. Say countryA takes 20 mins and countryB takes 40 minutes. If I then only install countryA, it will take 20mins. (and 20 mins I can cope with). In the next attempt I'll select both countryA and countryB. You would expect that such operation will take 40 mins as countryA has already been done. That it is not the case: it will take 20+40 mins. Arghh! (clearly the software plays it safe and simply redoes everything regardless if it is needed or not)

Any advice ? I simply cannot keep the car running for 10 hours. Not very friendly to the climate.


I've used the Peugeot Updater application for Windows to prepare the USB. That went well. Actual TAR file is named PSA_ovip-int-firmware-version_42-03-33-42_NAC-r0_NAC_EUR_WAVE4.tar.

I would try another USB flash drive.

You cannot do one country at a time, because every time you start installing/updating the maps, all other old ones are deleted. A full NAC Wave 4 map installation should take 1 hour, the USB port on the infotainment system is only version 2.0 (480 Mbps theoretical), so it doesn't really matter if you have faster USB flash drives.

That .tar file is the firmware/system update (and not the latest version BTW), the latest European map update should be PSA_map-eur_13.0.0-r0-NAC_EUR_WAVE4.tar

Yes, my bad. Indeed the map file you mention is the one I'm using.

Tried with another USB stick. Same result. I was not able to complete my own country (150 MB) in 25 mins. I'm beginning to wonder if there's any advantage to selecting individual countries or if that is just a myth?

Is there a way to keep the power on the Infotainment system without keeping the engine running?

25 minutes is not enough - when installing, the system also needs to decrypt, decompress and verify files, it isn't just copying. In the NAC Wave 4 system, there isn't a real progress bar (it uses motion but the percentage can't be inferred or ETA for that matter), but there isn't much difference between doing a full map update or just installing a few countries.

The engine must be running because the car powers off all electrical accessories after 30 minutes (and only when the battery is fully charged) - the eco mode. That's why I usually do a full map install, whilst driving 1 hour.

Keeping the engine on for +1 hour? That is insane. Not your fault, I know. It was wrong/immoral when the car was designed (around 2020/2021?), but of course even more so at this time where it is not just a climate crisis but also a matter of price of petrol. In any case, just imagine that the car would not turn off Infotainment if it was plugged into a charger. It is a PHEV after all.

I've found this in the handbook (in the section about charging):

Lounge mode
When the vehicle is connected, it is possible to switch on the ignition and use certain functions such as the audio and telematics system and the air conditioning
system for several hours. (my emphasis)

This gives me some hope. At the moment with my battery at 0% it will only start the map update if the engine is on. The car will not allow engine on and charging at the same time. However, I'm hoping for better results if I start the map update with a battery which is fully charged and plugged into charger. Let's see.

I also have an e-208, and to do firmware or map updates, I've to start the engine (it's the "ready" mode in EV). If I just turn on the electrical accessories (start/stop button without touching the brake pedal), the update fails right away. So not sure if you can do it in the PHEV. And you can't turn off the engine without also turning off the electrical accessories...

If you try it, do it only with map updates, they're easy to recover from a failed installation.

Maybe it isn't.:)

Especially if you have one of the "43.04.26.52_NAC-r0" (07 Jul 2021) or "43.04.27.52_NAC-r0" (21 Jan 2022) versions, Peugeot Update or the MyPeugeot app doesn't show the latest "44.02.16.52_NAC-r0" (22 Apr 2022).
