Hello, I am wondering how can I bleed the system myself, should I decide to flush the coolant and replace it with a fresh one. Is there a manual way to do it or it's necessary to hook it up to a computer?

My mechanic told me the following, not sure if it's true:

  • Start the engine and immediately hold around 3000 RPM for about 15 seconds.
  • Switch off the engine.
  • Start the engine back up immediately and let it idle until operating temperature is reached.

There should be 2 plastic bleed screws, The lower one should be at the front near the EGR valve, the upper one should be at the back of the engine under the windscreen. Locate and open both screws wth engine idling. Once coolant starts to flow from lower bleed point close it, then wait for top one to flow and close it, topping up coolant as required. Should take no more than 10-15 minutes.
I'd be wary of any mechanic advising me to immediately rev a cold engine to 3000 rpm
