Help with Jack / Axle Stand Placement on Peugeot 206

Hello,

My gearbox has been leaking oil for a while now and i've finally decided to get around to replacing the driveshaft seal.

I have a 2001 Peugeot 206 1.6 16v Roland Garros, no haynes manual exists apparently.

From my understanding one should place the axle stands under the sills - however, to me this would be very dangerous. The sills on these cars rust and break. If it snapped while i was under it... no thanks.

I asked a mechanic and he said put them under one of the bars in the photo (can't remember which one).

Can anyone tell me if this will be safe? I hate working under a car on jack stands and want to know that i am placing them safely. I am also going to slide my ramps under for a bit of extra safety.

Many Thanks

Edit - Very frustrating, i can't embed picture. Need to delete the spaces in the link. If anyone could embed for me i would greatly appreciate it.

Bit late but I see this question all the time, I lift the front on the sills and axel stands where the suspension joins to the subframe. You will see two raised sections where the front suspension joins to the subframe, the rear is another story, not many places as the front to lift and support. I usually lift the rear on where the rear shocks bolt through to the axel and then jack stands on the sills or visa versa. If doing the whole car go front then back, not one side at a time, it can be done but it's pretty unsafe.
