Hi all,

Recently purchased a 2016 Peugeot 308 blue hdi automatic. Sometimes when I turn the engine on, I get a beeping and a message on the touch display saying "Engine Fault - repair needed". No fault lights on the dash, no codes on the OBD reader. Took it to the garage I bought it from and they can't find anything. Any ideas?

This happens frequently on our 2015 308SW 2.0 HDiBlue. We're amid sussing the issue out and have so far concluded it's related to the battery and alternator. There appears to be a problem with maintaining voltage in the battery - and of course the stop/start system has given up the ghost.

Check the level of charge you're getting on your starter battery - this may well point you in the direction of what's going wrong (as in nothing wrong, just not enough voltage to satidfy all the electronic monitoring systems).
