EML & service light on after 30 seconds

About 7 miles after buying my 2019 Expert 2L diesel I filled it with fuel and the EML and service lights came on after about 1 more mile with no change in performance. That was 6m ago. Since then the lights are initially off when starting but come on after exactly 30 seconds, plus the on screen fix the engine message for a few seconds. The lights do not go out till the engine is stopped. Doing the service reset made no difference. I have a good code reader iCarSoft CR Pro and it shows no codes but does mention the battery in a non-fault code kind of way that it doesn't mention anything else - could be normal. Tried resetting all codes anyway. I cleaned the ad-blu sensor as it was a but mucky and it's worked through a tank, put the warning on, etc so that's fine. I did the reset procedure. Battery was a bit low so charged it fully. Checked the terminals for good contact. Checked Varta battery is the right type. Stop/start system works as it should. Apart from the lights the van seems perfect. Any ideas?

It doesn't seem to have any problem but I don't think it has anything to report as the ad-blue has been working fine in the back ground. I topped it up at the start when I cleaned the injector, then it recently put up a warning and put 10L in and the warning cleared. Injector must be working as it's been using it. So I don't think it's anything to do with that.
Not sure exactly what codes would be in the BSI rather than elsewhere? But I'm not seeing any codes at all. Same with my old cheap basic scanner.
Nothing happened of any note when the light initially came on, just driving along fairly sedately through Newbury, going round a roundabout towards the M4 after filling up with diesel at the Esso at the top of town. I'm obviously wondering if the sellers might have had this and his garage half fixed something to keep it off temporarily before I brought it but we did a 5 mile test drive a week before buying and also got to Newbury from near Basingstoke with no problems.

I think the battery was on the way out as it was only reporting 62 - 64% charge no matter how much I charged it. I did do a long run (Bristol to Notts) with the lights off and then it started autostopping again, but stopped after coming back with the lights on. Anyway, I decided to go for and put in a new Exide 72AH AGS battery and it's now reporting 85% charge and starts with a bit more alacrity, but the 2 lights still come on after 30seconds. -ve terminal looked a bit corroded but seems to be external only, zero resistance clamp to cable. So I guess that was just a separate fault starting that I've now headed off. MoT is less than a month away now and it's being doing this since just after the last one. Still no other signs of problems.

I got it through the MOT but recently the symptoms suddenly changed for no apparent reason. The EML light is now on from start rather than waiting 30 secs. Message is the same on screen and still no fault codes. Auto stop/start is deactivated and will not reactivate on screen due to the fault, although it still gives no clue what that might be. Battery voltage/charge is all normal and no actual symtoms apparent except it seems to be using a bit more oil that I'd expect. No smoke or leaks but I suppose the DPF would stop smoke on a modern engine? I'm wondering if it's somehow measuring the oil usage and translating that into a fault? But surely that would have a code if it was a thing?
