Hi all,

I've a 2015 308 Blue Hdi Allure 1.6 diesel. It's developed a parking brake fault with said brake not working. Normal brake use is fine as is hill assist. I've been quoted just shy of £400 after a diagnosis of a fault with the rear right brake caliper. Just for good measure the garage said this couldn't be guaranteed to fix it. I'm getting a second opinion from another garage but would definitely appreciate any input re the diagnosis I've been given plus also the quote. Many thanks.

I'd also be really chuffed if anyone could tell me if it's possible to somehow deactivate this BLOODY ANNOYING ALARM that is now going off every time I now have to leave the car parked in gear without the handbrake on.

Cheers all.

Is it a Peugeot main dealer that is diagnosing the fault?

Wouldn't be surprised if it was the caliper that's seized internally, parking brakes activated on rear disc brakes have always been a awful idea across all car manufacturers.

I don't know why this is accepted by car owners. I had a similar thing with a car repiar many years ago. My clutch was almost down to the floor while driving and switching gears meant i just pushed the clutch down the extra inch or so until bottom and that was quite nice and I could switch gears quickly, but with time and winter it then became impossible to switch gears without the gears making noise.

So I took it to a car repair and they said that they need to take out air from the clutch. I paid for that but after a week the same problem occurred again.

So I brought it back and they said, oh well, we then need to replace a cylinder in the clutch (named slave cylinder in swedish). That also helped but not more than a week and the problem was back. I paid about 7000 Swedish crowns for this, about 600 GBP plus the previous repair.

My point is that none of these repairs worked but still they wanted more money to continue the search for a fix.

This is not OK if you ask me. I should not pay money if their repairs does not help. Then they should deduct my previous cost that did not help.

So why do the car repairs do this? Take our money even if it does not help?

They have secondhand calipers on ebay with the electric motor still fitted for around £80 I would go for one of those and swap the motor or caliper over

I would check the handbrake mechanism is free & working correctly on each rear caliper.

It's still a very simple system apart from it has a pair of electric motors to directly operate the caliper handbrake mechanism instead of a cable.

Both motors need removing from the calipers & then by hand check the handbrake mechanism isn't seized or stiff.

Hi All

Just wanted to add my 3 pence worth. Peugeot 3008 Blue Allure HDI auto.
I had the dreaded park brake issue. It wouldn't apply and had to switch of engine to manually apply it.
Bought a switch from amazon for around £13 fitted it within 5 minutes and it works perfectly now.
Definitely try this first :) have a good day all.

I'm having the same issue peugeot 308 feline 1.6 diesel on a 64 plate

The issue with the parking brake began randomly as I was driving it came up with a parking brake fault and when I stopped the car and tried to put the handbrake on nothing happened

Switched off the car switched back on then it worked so the problem seemed intermediate

However after a couple of days trying the same things as previously said the parking brake wouldn't work ive plugged in a CR pro diagnostic machine and it says there is a problem with the actuator sensors put doesn't specifically say which side the code im getting is C156C I have googled the code but couldn't find anything any help would be appreciated
Did you try the "other" forum?

C156C fault

It sounds like you may have a dodgy wire.
