Left side of engine bay under a cover held down by four plastic studs. Behind the battery for what of a better description. Same on the c5.
As to what ecu, it depends what engine you have.

The 407's have around 12 ecu's ranging from the engine ecu,tpm ecu,additive ecu etc
Give more info...e.g. engine type petrol/diesel 1.6/1.8/2.0 year etc
The engine ecu on the 407 is at the right side of the engine bay when looking in at the engine....Its under the sign "no power washing allowed"
Why do you want to know where the engine ecu is....
