Hi all,

I have searched the forum and have also Googled extensively but can't find an answer to my question!

Is this the correct and recommended oil for my car? (Peugeot 3008 2011 Diesel 1.6 HDi 110hp.)

Total Quartz 9000 5W-30 ACEA A5/B5 API SL/CF

When I stick my reg into parts websites, the Total Quartz one doesn't appear but it is the one recommended on the sticker under the bonnet.

If not the right one, what is recommended please?

Thanks in advance - Matt

The A5/B5 oil you have your eye on is suitable, but the label on the slam panel is referring you to the handbook so there will be something to take note of (possibly not suitable for arduous duty cycle or hot climates, see what the book says.)

Don't worry about the brand, that gets recommended as part of a licencing agreement, just ensure it's the correct spec. No shortage of 5w/30 A3/B3 out there,n uch as this respected brand https://www.amazon.co.uk/RS-Mannol-...=&hvdev=t&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006933&hvtargid=pla-1211876041360&psc=1

Hi Donald, thanks for the response. I have had a look at the handbook, but nothing helpful in there. I am looking at the 300 odd page handbook but it doesn't have the answers I'm looking for. It states under the 'oil specification' section - 'The oil must correspond to your engine and conform to the manufacturer's recommendations.' Any ideas?!

ACEA A3/B3 is a full-SAPS, HTHS > 3.5 oil.

ACEA A5/B5 is a lower-SAPS, HTHS 2.9-3.5, lower friction, lower viscosity and thus more fuel economic oil.

C3 is not simular to, but in many ways a more modern A3/B3.

C2 (and C1, now obsolete) is not similar to but in many ways a more modern A5/B5.

So the A3/B3 vs A5/B5 will propably point to either the operating conditions or more likely that some (newer) vehicles with your engine will have a more sophisticated exhaust treament system fitted and thus being more "fuel economic" and more "green" (A5/B5).

PSA now points to their own specifications (PSA B71 xxxx) as primary and viscosity and ACEA only as secondary.
