Boot pops open every time car is unlocked?

Hi all,

I've had an issue with my Peugeot 307 HDI (117,500 miles) for some time.

Almost every time I unlock the car, the boot unlocks/pops open at the same time. To avoid the exclamation mark appearing on the dash and the beep, I have to open/shut the boot every time this happens. The boot doesn't fully open up, but reacts as though someone has pressed the button to pop it open, so sits there ajar.

It used to be seasonal and would only happen in cold weather, now it happens pretty much all the time, regardless of the temperature.

The same also happens if I unlock the car but don't start the engine for a while, when I turn the key in the ignition the boot pops open.

Essentially any time the door locking is triggered, so is the boot lock.

Anyone know what this could be and how to remedy it?
Is it likely to be mechanical or electrical?

Many thanks in advance!

Common problem.

Same with my 307 - boot messed about in Winter/wet weather and steadily got worse.

When you use the boot latch - you are pressing a microswitch - which tells the car to open the boot.

The microswitch is covered by a rubber nipple which wears out, lets damp in and then the switch sticks or sends spurious signals to the car to open the boot etc.

Have to replace the switch - it's an easy job - get one off Aliexpress if you want the best price.

Do a search on this forum - it's bound to have been raised before :)

Thanks for the tips, I found this common problem also listed in this thread - https://www.peugeotforums.com/forums/307-38/boot-lock-13156/

My catch was getting pushed in most of the time, therefore the micro-switch was remaining pressed in.

I found that I didn't have to unscrew the whole lock to fix, I simply prised open the catch with a screwdriver head (very carefully so as not to break it) and then stuffed a small piece of sponge behind it on either side - now it always bounces back!
I also sprayed WD40 on the catch hinge just to make sure.

HI I removed the boot cover inside and removed all the screws that hold the outer boot and that got me to the boot handle and I noticed that the switch spring is worn so I used double tape as a spring and wala

My C3 Picasso same. However there is a button on the dash with a padlock on it for locking doors. I just held it in for a few seconds and the dash display said auto locking disabled. Seemed to stop the problem for me. Can activate the auto locking on by holding button in for a few seconds as well.

Mine did the same; removed boot switch, cleaned and stuck some foam draught excluder on the plate that you touch to open the boot. That pushes it away from the microswitch which was obviously not opening correctly.
Not sure if there is suposed to be some sort or spring in there somewhere when it was new but I couldn't see anywhere one would fit, however now works just fine with the draught excluder fix.
