I've changed to a 2107 Peugeot 3008. Brilliant car but I've run into issues trying to connect my Samsung phone to car using android auto.

I have a Samsung Galaxy A53 running Android 14. The system version of rhe car software is version 049D.

I've tried to connect via USB using the USB socket in the front centre console. When I start android auto my Samsung and follow the instructions it doesn't seem to register that the phone is connected via USB.

Can anyone shed some light on what the issue might be?

I had read about the issue with cable quality so I ordered a cable from Ebay advertised as Android auto. Also using the MyPeugeot app to interrogate the cat I was told there was a radio software update. I updated the radio last night to software version 076D.

I've seen a video where the poster advised to bluetooth pair to the car through the MyPeugeot app.

When the cable comes tomorrow I'll give it all another go. I would hate to think that Android Auto isn't available in my car as it was one of the main features that attracted me to the car.

I've just ordered the components from the PiHut so I'm looking forward to building it and setting it up

Hope all goes well. Going back to the cable issue, it was the third one I tried before getting it to work.
I was studying the connectors on the raspberry Pi as I was flashing the SD card and noticed that it only has micro usb connectors. That's very disappointing as my phone only has USB C so my android auto cable is USB C. This is a shortcoming of the board given that most devices are moving to the USB C standard.

I had a rummage around in my cable drawer and found a USB A to micro USB cable. I'll try it and see if it works or not. I don't have much faith as the cable most likely isn't set up android auto, fingers crossed. If it doesn't work then I'll have to order one or an adapter from Amazon .

I have one of these in my 308 which was a game-changer! It's more expensive now that what you're talking about here but I got mine when they were still taking kickstarter donations so it was much cheaper than the current price. The DIY approach proposed here does looks really interesting and a fun project. One thing I will say for my AAWireless box though is that is has some nice additional options like overridding the tap limit and being able to configure exatcly what AA does when it first connects. I might try the approach above myself though as a backup option and because why not!
I did look at options like the AA wireless one you have but I like to tinker and thought this would be a fun little project, which it was. It's pretty straightforward and took about 20 minutes to build and flash the micro SD card with the software. Following the instructions to connect it was pretty straightforward as well.
