That's not required.

Have you run the AA on your phone after you installed it?

Try other cable, some cables are not working properly with AA.
Once you connect an Android phone with a proper cable the option should become available on the car's screen.

it is if you want it to auto start android auto and i belive some of the other functions need it too to fully work:-

 

If everything works as expected then the car and phone will connect over BT once the AA connection has been established, there is no need to manualy pair them before starting the AA setup.

- yes bluetooth are on,
- AA app works fine on my phone,
- i have tried many cables with no luck

check in your notifications , it may have selected "charge only" when you connected the USB cable ,if i remember correctly it needs "transfer files " or something similar

 

Have you rebooted the phone?

 

By far the biggest the reason is that the cables being used are charging USB cables. You have to use data USB cables.

There is a difference and is the biggest problem is people don't realise that the vast majority of cables that we have are for charging.

 

Which equipment level does your 3008 have? If I am not mistaken, I remember somebody writing that in their country Android Auto is available only as a paid option or as standard only on the GT model... can't remember which country it was though

Here in Greece Android Auto is not available in the Access and Active trim levels, maybe the same is for Cyprus? What trim level are you on?

 

You need the NAC infotainment system, the one with integrated navigation.
