Hi all,

Hoping for some good, honest advice.

I've got this car 5008 1.5TDI 2019. After 1 day it flashed up saying Emissions fault, starting impossible in 50 miles. Only had the car 1 day.

Took it to Peugeot and they said it was a P20ee fault and some tbs long code, they said they cleared the fault.

Well, 250 miles later on a long motorway journey and it come back on. This time back to the dealership I got the car who have claimed to "get it sorted"
Question is, can this issue be fully resolved or will it keep coming back all the time?

Hey Franko, unfortunately, welcome to the P20EE club. I have the same 5008 1.5 BlueHDI 2019 as you. It all started with P20EE and the Emissions fault error. I went multiple times in PSA, and they reset the error a couple of times and updated the ECU, but the error still kept returning after driving for a while. At the end they did online diagnostics to tell me that the CAT/DPF assembly needs to be replaced(around 2000 eur). Since the car is out of warranty I bought Lexia/Diagbox and kept resetting the error myself and drove around 20k km. I also took the CAT/DPF and got it chemically washed but without success. In the meantime, the Adblue pump died, so I need to replace the Adblue tank; I hope that was the cause for the P20EE error; we will see next week when they change the tank. The mechanic who will change the ADBlue is working in PSA, and he mentioned that this specific model/year has issues related to the timing chain/exhaust manifold, he said that there is a new fixed revision that if the ADBlue tank does not fix the P20EE, I will need to change that as well. For anyone else who is considering buying 5008 1.5 BlueHDI 2018-2019 and even 2020, I would strongly recommend avoiding it.

Thank you for your reply and advise.

We are back at peugeot 3rd time now:

1st - they reset the software, adblue light went but came back the next day

2nd - they changed the adblue injector, light came back on the next time we drove the car

3rd - we've been told that the engine needs replacing, the diesel injectors and the turbo!!!!! They removed the catalytic converter and realised there was a lot of soot, so they are assuming that the engine isn't generating the catalytic convertor properly!!

Can anyone advise please!

At this point I am very versatile upset and extremely disappointed and totally regret buying this car!!!!! Worst decision and experience ever!!!

Unfortunately in my case the replacement of ADBlue tank did not fix the issue. I took it to other PSA service which had more experience with such cases and they told me that so far they never changed the catalytic converter for issues similar to mine. They did additional diagnostic and they said that the engine head/cover needs to be replaced with the latest revision on which "internal combustion parts has been modernised" and they told me some crazy price like 5-6k EUR. At the end, of the books they told me to disable the Adblue system and drive it like that.

I am curious, did someone else had similar comment from PSA that the camshaft and the engine head parts needs to be replaced for the adblue/emissions effectivness problem?

@Shazambles - I guess the soot that you mentioning might be same in my case where the engine does not perform as it should. I asked them to give me full parts list what needs to be replaced, will share it here as soon I get it

I got my 2019 1.5 5008 a few days ago , it's now back at the dealer where I bought it , they found a fault code while doing a service prior to my collecting the car , they kept the car a week while an auto electrician checked it , they replaced the Nox sensor , re set the codes and said all was fine. Yesterday , we were out on a long drive and about a hour in , a bleep and ad blue error came up . I phoned the dealer saying what had happened , they are covering the repair as I have 2 months warranty but they extended it to Three months for this issue if it came up again. We were 7 hours from the initial break down , to getting the car recovered to the dealership nd getting home , they gave us a courtesy car which is my old car that I part exchanged for this one. We now have no confidence in the reliability of the car and reading various posts , we are anxious that this will be an ongoing thing with Diesels now they have the ad blue things on them. So are thinking going back to a petrol car .

What’s the status of your car now? Was it from a Peugeot dealer or other? There has been a revision on the engines since new which should prevent the issue re-occurring…. BUT, we went through 4 engine faults over 4 months. Started with reset on the sensor, then replacement injectors, then replaced the turbo and the final replaced the top half of the engine due to being covered in soot… the final replacement included the revised parts which should prevent it from happening again… all in all a long and arduous process… my advice… either get rid of the car now if you still can, or get the dealer to do some serious investigation, whilst it is still under warranty

I've got a 1.5 2019 5008 that I purchased in May 2023. 70 miles in to my 100 mile journey home i had "Engine Fault: repair needed" and "emissions fault, starting impossible in 700 miles" Was told it was a software update which was carried out and it was fine until December 2023 when it came back. Local garage couldn't deal so it went to Peugeot in Feb 24. TSB was followed and the ecu had a software update. Fast forward to April 24 and it was back. Brought a Launch CRP129x V2 diag tool which gave me P20EE and P242F. After watching YouTube videos I determined P242F was relating to the DPF being full and needing a replacement. I checked live data and could see the dpf was blocked, got some dpf cleaner (aerosol can with hose) sprayed it down both DPF Differential Pressure Sensor hoses (leading down to DPF) revved vehicle up to 3000rpm, DPF is now unblocked and working well. P20EE- using live date i could see something wasn't right but couldn't pin point it. I went onto actuation tests and ran tests individually for the DeNox System which threw up an error for the Adblue Injector, ordered one off of Ebay for £60 and 4 hours later injector changed, told the car it had a new one, no more fault code and the injector actuation test worked well with no faults and live data showing adblue was being injected. 🤞🤞 I've solved it.
