I think the small rcz sport steering wheel is class and that should definitely fit,not sure about 407 wheel. I would like a rcz wheel for my coupe:thumb:

 

there was one on ebay few weeks back think it was £145! but was new they do look nice:thumb:

 

Steering wheel on the 407 coupe is nice but I think a little too big,is their much hassle changing wheels with their being airbags involved?

 

an not sure, i did see a guide some where that showed guy changing his 307 steering wheel for one from the 308cc looked nice ( note to self try and hunt down that gudie and pics! ) it looked pretty easy just unplug the battery and leave the car 30mins, then remove the clips on the rear of the wheel to remove the air bag then unbolt the wheel

 

i cant see there being any problems, unless the connections on the airbag unit are different.

i wouldnt trust myself to do the steering wheel, as knowing me, i wouldnt tighten the new wheel up properly to correct torque :lol:

 

thought i would update this abit incase anyone wants to do it, the wheel on the 407 will fit but the air bag wont you need the whole unit from a 407 with the airbag i found out to my cost i got one and though great am gonna have a nice wheel and took mine apart and not the same fitment dont worry if a wheel coming so will update this soon with pics i tryed to get a rcz that was being broke but the air bag poped!

I've a leather 407 rim and airbag waiting to go on, nice to know the wheel fits.

Have you got any further? Is it a simple case of fitting the 407 steering wheel and airbag or does anything else need changing? Will Ecu/Bsi accept the 407 airbag without further reprogramming?

 

Does anyone know if Cmax tried this as he doesn't seem to be around of late.

 

yes you need to swap air bag too but that that you need! :thumb:

 

Cheers - just need to repaint the worn thumb rests then I'll be giving this a go if its a simple swap over job!

 

yes simple job just unplug the battery so the air bag does not go off but remember the 3 min rule when removing the battery!

the torq size is 50 or 55 remember the bolt is on tight well mine was lol
makes sure you have the 407 air bag as the 307 does not fit but you know that:thumb:

can you post a picture as on the airbag i got it was the same colour as the 307 air bag my 407 wheel came off a 2006 407

 

Well I have bigger issues as I now have a fully working coms 2005 but a fubarred wiper/trip stalk.

Been round breakers this morning but all coms units are missing and any decent steering wheels gone.

Going to bite the bullet and buy a coms from ECP I think.

you should have two plugs ive just checked my oem 307 wheel and the air bag as the same two plugs as the 407 what year is your 307?

only thing i can think of is someones cut the plug so theres no airbag light,
did the one you took off have one plug for the air bag?

Mine is a 2007, air bag with only one connector.

 

ah right, wonder if theres any later 407s with the one plug, i''ll check service box later and report back

 

Cheers - but it looks like I'll just have to cut my losses with this one and put it in the sales section. Shame as it was quite a tidy wheel with minimal ring rash.
