My centre brake light is missing several LED's - they are easily replaceable, but how does one get the unit out?

I've removed the 2 nuts from the tailgate, but it still won't budge. Are there clips behind the trim panel in the tailgate?
How does that come off?

Quite straightforward. In my case, it was the rubber/silicone waterproof seal around the light unit preventing it from moving. After removing the nuts and pouring some hottish water over the seal, I simply held a flat piece of wood across each thread and tapped it using my hand, came away quite easily. It will pop forward, disconnect the power connector and the rear wash nozzle. Then it seperates into 3 parts, lens, reflector and circuit board. The LEDS are repairable in some cases, mine wasn't but a search across the net and I found a 12v LED strip which was almost perfectly aligned had exactly the right amount of LEDS although the spacing needed fiddling with. 5 in a box for ÂŁ6. (possibly ebay but can't remember).
