308 problems

Hi all
Not been on here for a couple of years, since selling my 307cc.

I now have a 2014 new shape 308 (had for just under a year now) and i have had few problems with it and was wondering whether anyone else was having any.
These are the parts that have been replaced :-

New head unit fitted as radio was constantly crackling

New condenser fitted as the original had started to corroded and lost all the gas.

Be prepared the gas in these new 308's is new variant and is really expensive and not a lot of places at the moment have stock of this due to the cost.
After many years of owning Peugeot's going through most of the models including the nice RCZ and looking forward to owning the new 308, I'm worried what may go wrong next.
As anyone else had any major issues with there's.

Sorry to hear of your problems.

Mine has been perfect and a joy to drive.

Hope you will soon be enjoying your 308 again. :thumb:

PS: Mine's only 7 months old though........

I have the 2014 308 as well and I have had only 2 problems since new.

The first is that the Front central armrest catch was broken, so it kept snapping shut and trapping my fingers  They replaced the armrest under warranty.

The second is being resolved tomorrow eventually, the throttle pedal was squeaks when pressing / letting off. I had to argue a bit to get this resolved as the peugeot techys kept saying 'Its normal levels of resistance'. (I can here this over my music, and I do not have my music quiet) :D

Apart from that all has been fine. My headunit used to crackle when I first bought it, more so when i was streaming bluetooth audio from my phone. This was fixed with an early firmware update and has been fine since!

I hope everything goes back to normal soon for you :thumb:

Hi Paul, I had the Same with the condenser problem, I was told it was stone hole in the condenser and wasn't covered under warranty.
I finally got an independent report and was told that it was corrosion.
Thankfully now it has been repaired.
After reading your firmware posts I asked them to check my software due to Bluetooth problems, they told me it was up to date but looking again yesterday it clearly isn't has mine is 5.1 and dated 2013.

Same with mine, except that I saw it myself from the technician's notebook that it says there's no update. But you're from the UK, right?

I'm just worried about doing it and it goes wrong.
Would it be ok going from 5.1 to 5.4 or should it be done in stages, although I guess the dealer would just go to the latest firmware

Hmm, don't like these reports about problems with corrosion on the condensor that are beginning to surface.
How do one keep an eye on this to discover if ones 308 is struck by it?

I think the only way to find out is when the air con don't work and you put the dye through the system.
But don't let them fob you off because it's an expensive repair and i nearly paid it but got an independent report and found out it was corrosion.

Interesting that the condensor has corrosion. I have noticed my air con wasn't that effective in the cold spell. I wonder if I have picked up the same on mine.

I had a 306 cabrio some time ago, that had pin holes on the condensor and I ended up spending a lot of money for regas and new parts to fix all the corrosion. The mileage on that was very low.

Does anyone have pictures to share? As I will look at mine when its back. Maybe a job at the next service.

I have the rear axle make a grinding noise . Its a fault with most 308s which I am waiting for Peugeot to fix. Part has been made to fix the problem but on back order.

Clutch bearings going with only 7000 miles on the clock.

What model is yours? Assume its a manual. Sounds bad for the axle to fail like that. Is the car an ex demo car, just wondering if clutch has had a hard time.

My Car is a 1.2 Peugeot 308 Feline and yes its manual . The rear axle is a fault Peugeot is aware of with some of the Peugeot 308s. The clutch will be looked at in the next few weeks. A Rear axle part has been made to replace faulty one. The car was an ex demo with 1700 miles when I got it now it has 7100 miles.

So my fault so far is my car didn't start.

So I have keyless entry and hit the start button and only could hear a small click nose from the glove box, the engine didn't even try to turn over or make a nose.

The car is still under warranty so dropped the keys off to the local dealer where I purchased it from and apparently they jump started the car (I was at work at the time) (didn't know you could jump start a car with keyless + diesel ) and got the car back and replaced the starter motor.

I thought starter motors would at least make a clicking nose even if they fail ? I had my head under the hood and I swear there was no nose coming from the engine bay.

Who knows what is was, been a week and so far so good:thumb:

My only complaint is I find the speakers in the stereo a bit week, my old Astra has a better setup for bass + volume... anyone done any after market upgrades ?

If the solenoid winding has gone open circuit then there will be no click, no noise - nothing. An open circuit winding would be exactly the same as removing the smaller 12v cable.

Just got back my 2014 308 1.6l 125bhp after about four weeks in the shop (!).

Unfortunately they provided very little information of what was wrong, other than to say that the fuel injection wasn't working properly and none of the easier fixes helped so they had to call Peugeot for assistance several times.

I had noticed a slight increase in fuel consumption the past months, but figured it was down to the winter tires and cold weather even though the rate was slightly higher than what I remembered from last winter. Easy enough to misremember.

Then a few weeks ago the car got jumpy, the check engine light started flashing, and it entered some kind of safe mode where very little power was provided. So I had to limp it to the shop.

At first I got it back after about a week. They had done a couple of fixes and reset the safe mode, but the problem reappeared after approx. 65km. So I returned it and this time they took their time to get it right (I hope).

Hello, new to this forum but just wanted to know - I have a 308 2014, 1.6d, since I've had it I've had a few issues - one being he condenser (being replaced soon), accelator pedal arm (replaced as part of a recall) and the biggest issue for me - my car intermittently won't start, when this happens "brake system fault" pops up on the screen. The strange thing is, every time this happens it has been on a very hot day. Car does start after a while - but can be anything from 5 minutes to a couple of hours ? I've contacted the dealers about this on every occasion and of course, by the time I get the car to them, the diagnostics on the fault are not there, has anyone else experienced this? Many thanks!

Curious about this condensor issue .I put the air con on today and it gets cold but nothing to what my old car did. Its only 2 years old I was thinking it needed a regas. The car is going in for a brake fluid change next month I might just mention it

Noticed I had a problem after a service - after replacing pollen filter, air con was checked & noticed a whistling noise as well hearing it for about 5 seconds after the engine was off. It started cold (but not cold enough), and now its warm (being replaced this week). The first time I contacted Peugeot, they wanted to charge me for diagnostics etc... once I raised my concern a bit higher they agreed to put it on the diagnostic free - good job too!
