Hi All,

I am in the process of researching the 3008 range with a view to purchase in the next couple of months. I am after a very specific specification as outlined in the title. My question, was the GT Line 1.2 Puretech 130bhp Auto produced in 2017, 2018, and 2019? I am finding it next to impossible to find a second hand one in Ireland and wonder am I missing something?

Any insight greatly appreciated.

Best,

Ronan

Hi Ronan,

Welcome :)

The only conclusion that I can come to is that anyone who bought that particular model new is happy with it and in no rush to change. You'll find some 1.2 auto Allures for sale but there's a risk that they might have been rentals regardless of what the registration document or salesperson says.

If you are considering a 2019 car you'll easily get a deal on a 2020 for less than a year's depreciation as the dealer has some flexibility with incentives and rebates. I know that its probably more than you were hoping to spend but if you're after a particular spec then it might be worth it. Bluebell Motor Company have three in stock.

Have you sat in the back of one? Make sure that you're happy with the headroom there for any potential regular passengers as the panoramic roof takes at least an inch from the available headroom. Other than that, its near enough the perfect car for most people.

Hi Aidan,

Many thanks for the welcome and the response! We are planning on purchasing in late July as cash buyers.

A second-hand 2017/2018 model seems to be rarer than hens teeth. I did see the couple of 2020 models on offer with Bluebell but the better half is not so keen on a brand new one although I have pointed out the lack of availability otherwise. Plus our budget won't likely stretch that far.

Not sat in the back of one yet due to the travel restrictions but I had noted the reduction in head room. I don't mind that, we have no kids or pets so most of the time it will just be the two of us in it.

Am I right in thinking that it is the GT Line up that has the full LED's? Given the potential cost of the car, that is a dealbreaker for me and why I have not even considered the Allure.

Also, from what I gather, the switch to EAT8 happened in the sencond half of 2018 so 182 reg onward should have this?

There may be purchase/finance incentives when things restart so late July sounds like the perfect time to buy.

Yes, the GT Line is the lowest spec in Ireland with LED lights as standard. I haven't been in a car with them so can't comment but they seem to get very good reviews. That said, my last three cars had auto bending xenon lights and I was concerned that I'd miss them but I've found the standard headlights on my 5008 very good, mostly because the auto-dipping headlights work very well so the road ahead is always well lit. I'm sure that the LEDs are superior but don't discount the halogens if they're the only reason for the GT Line as you'll have a much greater choice if the Allure would suit otherwise.

I don't know for sure when the EAT8 was introduced.

Seeing as you're a cash buyer, would you consider importing a UK car? You'd have a much bigger choice of higher spec models and a purchase from a main dealer would give some peace of mind. There are also agents in Ireland who will source and import a car for you.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

If your willing to travel, ours will be traded in as soon as we get our new 3008. It's stilling somewhere in England waiting to be delivered to our dealer here in Northern Ireland. Check Regency Cars Newtownards if you're interested. It's a Feb 2018 1.2 GT Line in red. Think about 22/23k on the mileage. We would have had our new one if corvid-19 hadn't come round.

I have all the previous official brochures and price guides for the 3008 range since launch (P84 version) if you need any clarification.

These are electronic PDF's, so summarise the full kit, specs, prices and engine/gearbox availability of the 3008 through its life. Its interesting comparing a launch model specs and prices to the same now!

I've been through and checked and this is what I have found. These are from the official Peugeot UK price guides.

I've been through every price guide for the new (P84) 3008 for 2019 and 2018 and dipped into the 2017 year as well - sorry if its all very confusing. I can see why you've asked!

2017 - GT Line 1.2 Puretech 130bhp Auto available
2018 - No auto in GT Line offered in any price guide at all for that year - only 1.2 with the manual gearbox
2019 - GT Line 1.2 Puretech 130bhp Auto available from Model Year 2020 (Version 23 of the price guide - dated October 2019) - August 2019 (Model year 2019) shows no GT Line 1.2 auto available, only the 1.2 with the manual gearbox

As I recall, the 1.2 Auto was available on the GT Line at the 3008 launch, but went into constraint for a long while (because of very high demand for that engine/gearbox/trim combination). Price guides in May 2017 were already listing the GT Line 1.2 auto derivative as 'stock only'.

Availability of the auto was OK at the very start of the new models launch in 2017, but then later on, GT Line models could only be had in manual gearbox form, with the auto being offered only on lower specs. There was also a fire at the trim factory affecting the 3008, in particular the GT Line and above door and dash trim. This caused a lot of constraints.

Thank you very much for taking the time to check this out ans what you have outlined makes perfect sense. In summation, the exact spec I want is only available as a 2017 model or 2020 model which is a bit of a headache. A 2020 model is beyond our budget and it is impossible to find a 2017 model for sale in Ireland (including Northern Ireland). While there are several on the UK mainland, when we include the import costs, it exceeds our budget.

I will continue to search but this has been very helpful in any case.

@heartofwhite try to find an Allure model with all the specs. When i bought my Allure 2019 auto 1.2 (ordered in august 2018, delivered in february 2019 - Romania), the GT trim was available only for manual 1.2, so i checked all the boxes (focal, led, i-amplify with massage, panoramic, black roof) and bought an auto 1.2 Allure. I fitted 2 chrome exhaust from the dealer and that was all. Saved some money, too. Maybe you will find a car like mine in Ireland.

@alfa147 how do you feel the 1.2 engine after some years now inside a 3008? I own a Peugeot 308 (2017) with 1.2 puretech and I really like it, but I'm wondering how this engine behaves in a larger car like 3008 when loaded with 4 passengers and their luggage? Do you think it's a bit too small (especially when hill ascending, or car overtaking) or the 130hp gives the extra power you need? Thanks!
