Hi all,

As the title says both headlights have stopped working onn my 5008.

I've checked bulbs and fuses and these are fine.

Is there a headlight relay in the car and if so where is it?

Any other suggestions?

Suspect I'll have to get the code reader out or it's a trip to an auto electrician.

Cheers

Tyke

Sorry been meaning to post an update for a while.
All sorted, took off bumper and cleaned up all earth points and headlight connectors.
Not sure what the issues was in the end, but it works so I'm happy.

Also changed the blown daytime lights, crazy how Peugeot think it's acceptable to design a headlight that needs you to take off the front end just to change a couple of bulbs.

Cheers Alvy, sorry to hear it cost you so much.
found one from same yr for ÂŁ30 on fleabay, arriving today.

Blower/heater fan stopped working today also which is fed from engine bay fuse box, so sound like it's breaking down.
Oddly rear fans still working so must be fed from different fuse.

I'll report back when I've fitted the replacement.

Depending how it goes further on, but for the sake ÂŁ40-50 I'd take really good photo of BSM (fuse box), get one of a fleabay, replace it (literally 5 minute job) and see, if anything would improve.
Ref: www.peugeotforums.com/threads/5008-2-0-hdi-2010-reg-turbo.372501/ www.peugeotforums.com/threads/water-damaged-bsi-bsm-ecu-windscreen-replacement-for-a-peugeot-5008-2009-16-uk.374188/ in short, I've spent way North of ÂŁ3k on repairs alone, but majority of issues ended replaced BSM and leaks eliminated, that still leaves some occasional weird errors like PS etc, that most commonly solved, by getting to the right contacts, spray on contact cleaner, plugging back in www.peugeotforums.com/threads/intermittent-electric-power-steering-fault-pug-5008-2-0-hdi-sport-manual-2010-just-over-80k-miles-engine-code-rhe.376047/

I wasn't able to find your car from your VIN on the site I usually use but I was able to get your engine designation from the VIN: 9HD (DV6C). That and the RPO are enough to get the right SEDRE wiring diagrams. I have attached a block diagram that gives the block descriptions and the detailed wiring diagram.

Given that the dash indication is working it suggests the Comms unit (switches under the steering wheel) is working. The detailed wiring diagram shows two blue lines 9017 and 9018 between the BSI and fuse box (PSF1). This is a CAN bus which links the BSI's processors to the fuse box's processor. If things such as the horn and wipers are working this would suggest that the CAN bus is probably okay. The wiring diagram indicates that there is a separate block (marked in red below) inside the fuse box that controls the headlights. Hence my best guess is there is a problem inside the fuse box. All I can suggest is:
(i) See if Diagbox tells you anything.
(ii) Try a replacement fuse box

Thanks AlvyLad,

I thought that might be the case.
I had a look on my copy of Peugeot Electric diagrams and couldn't find a relay in the circuit.

I'll break out my diagbox kit. By no means an expert but it might give me a steer.

Oddly no warning on dash, headlight symbol on dash lights up as normal. not sure if this is good or bad.

I'll report back.

Are both high and dipped beam not working?

The headlights are operated by the main engine fuse box which is controlled by the BSI. In the diagrams below PSF1 is engine fuse box. The fuses of interest are F15 to F18. These will be controlled by relays inside the fuse box. However, the left and right sides are seperate circuits so if neither side is working it could be the switch. Is everything else: wipers, horn, sidelights working?

F16 left main beam
F17 left dipped beam

F15 right main beam
F18 right dipped beam

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the detailed post. Yes both headlights have stopped working.
All fuses and bulbs are fine.
Not sure it's the switch as headlights can be switched from auto to manual, and the dipped headlight and sidelight lamps come on on the dash.
I'll break out my copy of diagbox and report back.

yes and no. Electrics is the problem of these cars, in a sense, your headlights are operated by BSI, hence troubles where it is to learn could be in plethora in origin. Without panicking for anyone with functional or semi-functional DiagBox- they'll need at least you EDC or VIN in full in order to look up diagrams specific to your car. On the other hand, for the headlights to fail- computer must have thrown major failure warning, strange not the case.
After all, check, clean all contacts on BSM, ECU and... if lucky to get as far as you can BSI.
Indeed, the simplest and most sensible route is to get to electrician, who has Lexia3 or better diagnostics equipment, as believe it or not- half of garages are clueless what they do, that is very specific knowledge on PSA (Stelantis) cars.
keep us posted! ;)
