Hello all,

Hope you are all well,

3 years with this very puzzling, annoying and expensive problem. And now, finally, a possible solution?

A very short summary of the problems: frequent power loss, erratic acceleration, fault codes such as: System too lean, Super-knocking and misfires.

We had a long thread about this on this Forum 3 years ago (link on PS), but to cut to the chase, I think I found the root problem:

Any comments very welcome,

mcf

PS: Old thread about it:

Yes, those were our first thoughts, carbon has been cleaned (walnut blast) and timing chain replaced, last year.

HPFP? You don't think that it's more likely a problem in the intake camshaft timing system? Like they mention here:

I forgot to mention, we replaced also the turbo coolant pump.

HPFP's are a bit of a known issue on this series of engines, BMW covers them for 8 years under warranty, Peugeot unfortunately dont. Would get the car checked out soonest to be honest with you, not a cheap part but you may get a good will gesture from Peugeot if the car is just out of warranty.

Resurrecting an old thread, but my 2017 308 GT has suddenly run into problems with the 1.6 THP. On my way home from work one day, it went into limp mode (engine and Service light in amber), with misfires and a severe loss of power. I was able to get home, and nurse it to the Peugeot dealer the next day. Barely.

The dealer is still trying to figure out what's wrong with it, given multiple fault codes. They tried replacing the HPFP but that did not resolve the issue......now they're going to try and replace the fuel tank. I get worried when dealers just start throwing parts at a problem......:(

The car is just out of warranty (52k km or 32k mls) so the dealer will try to get some goodwill from Peugeot as I just had the 2 year service done at the dealer.

Am I the only one with this problem ? Would have figured by 2017 they would have ironed out most of the problems with the THP motor.
