Hello.
This thread is about my Peugeot Boxer 1996 2.5 TD
Engine type: "dj5t or THZ"

I'll try to make this easy to read.
Firstly I'll explain what the problem is, I bought the car and got it home made some interior work to it. Then left it outside my garage for about 3 weeks, the coldest temperature was around -25 degrees Celsius (Has antifreeze so it wont freeze till -36,5 degrees celsius) after that I couldn't get it running, so I towed it into the garage and figured that it was only too cold to start.
But no luck after a good 3 days in the garage it still wont start!
I actually got it started once, (after 1.5 days of engineheater and 2 radiators under the engine) it started but would not run on idle. It'd die emidiatly when I let it under ~1500rpms

This is what I have done so far:
*Changed the fuel filter.
*Made sure there is sufficent fuel flow to the injector pump.
*Bleed the injectors
*Removed one of the injectors and checked the "dieselmist"
*Checked the cam- and pumptiming
*Checked the glowplugs 1 working the rest is dead.

It cant be the glowplugs cuz then it'd idle like normal when I got it running, but I'll change them anyways.
So far I know that the engine is getting diesel and at the right time.
The only thing left to check is the compression. But when I turn the crank with a ratchet I feel there is compression. But I'll check anyway to be sure.

Someone please help me!

If its getting diesel then it should start?
Have you had the pump checked?

I removed one of the injectors and kept it connected to the pump and watched it give a nice shot of diesel to my garage floor.
So no I have not left the pump to an expert to be checked but I thought this might the trick

Theres definitely fuel at every injector if you loosen each union and crank it?

No offence taken. Questions are a part of the diagnostic procedure.
If theres diesel comig to the injectors then it should start.
I'd be checking the pump and its timing.

Ok, I'll check that there is diesel in every injector again and the timeing.
I'll post again later how it went

Ok, so I get fuel through every injector. So the pump seem to work.
I guess perhaps the timing can be off somehow, but I've checked the timing at the gear versus the cam gear and the flywheel and it's ok, is there any other way to check the timing? Perhaps the gear has rotated relative to the pump?

I'll be getting an compression tester in the beginning of next week just to rule the compression out completely

Yes but you'll need to check the timing of the pump itelf. Not the valve timing.

One question that has not been asked did it run when you got it IE did you drive it to where you parked it or was it bought this way

Other thing this is likely the iveco type engine and this engine DOES need the glowplugs to start even 1 dead will make a difference

Its a Peugeot engine, the DJ5 turbo.

No you get a 2.5 too but i just googled the engine options in this van and it crazy so many different engines fitted through the years !!

At least when you open the bonnet on a transit you know what you will find even if it is crap :)

How do you check the pump timing?
That I dont know how to do.

Reliable: Yes it ran good when I bought it, a little hard to start though but that was the glowplugs fault. I've got a set of new plugs on their way.

If it ran fine when you got it and you have not disturbed the pump then the problem cant be the timing you must have another issue i would wait till you have fitted the glowplugs before going any further

Okay so I installed the new glowplugs and it starts. But it does not sound to good and if you let your foot off of the gas it'll die immediatley. It also somkes like a chimney.

Any thoughts?

No, the only thing I've done is bleed from the filter to the pump and from the pump to the injectors.
The only difference with new plugs is that it starts more easily I think, I had it running once before and had the same symptoms, that it dies when I let of the gas
