Hi,

I am in UK and happy owner of 308 hatchback (2008 model).

Only irritating thing in my car is wipers. I really don't understand why 308 has small wiper on driver side as oppose to other cars. During rains its very irritating as longer wiper comes exactly half of my view. I don't feel comfortable driving car in rains just because of this Peugeot stupidity.

Is there a way we can swap the wiper blades and move longer one on driver side.

Thanks in advance,

JM

I'd say because it's French, therefore set up for left hand drive. Not economical to change for rhd market, when it does the job almost as well.

Well its hard to understand when they have already spent money to move steering and related equipments from left to right.

Yes, but they had to do that. The wipers don't need to be done (on 307's/308's). You get used to it.
My wife will be driving a 207 soon, which has conventional style wipers, but she found it weird on the test drive after 4 years of our 307's.

I've had my 308 a few weeks now --we all said hey look crazy 1960's American wipers . It took me & my family exactly 30 seconds to get used to them --nobody even mentions it anymore ...they seem perfectly normal to me !!!

yeah i think it is as above where someone mentioned french and LhD markets.

my 307 blades only had a difference of 1 or 2 inch but got used to it.

however ive won this time with my focus as the americans/EU have to deal with it being the right way

I have the same problem. Driver's blade 26", passenger's 30". Spoke to my Peugeot garage who stated they could change the arms over but that would not be covered by the warranty! Not really good customer sevice considering the road safety issue of the driver's blade that only clears two thirds of the windscreen. Having said that, vertically impaired drivers will not experience this problem. Also Peugeot UK did not want to address the wiper issue when I contacted them and just suggested that I speak to my Peugeot garage!

Sorry to drag up an old thread... I have thought the same... If they have managed for the 207 - what's the crack witht the 308 been back to front?!

If you change the wiper arms over will it work? I really want to do this as the water which is uncleared is really annoying!!

Experiment away, it should be a quick find out. It would be interesting to hear your findings. There might be a warranty issue as mentioned earlier.

Because they either forgot, which is quite possible, or because the cost was deemed un-necessary considering it doesn't sell in any where near the same volume as the 207.

It's not a problem, but once you've picked up on it then it bugs you every time you switch the wipers on.

Spoke about changing blades over and was told by one Peugeot garage that would not work due to time gaps of blades. They would hit each other!

Interesting that all garages do not give that same information!

Peugeot UK stated that the 307 has passed all the UK requirements so Warranty issue does not apply.

In otherwords, not really interested!

I hated it on the loaner 307 I had (for 2 months while I was waiting for delivery of mine). The drivers side left far too large a gap down by the A pillar, which was pretty thick, meant a huge blind spot when it was raining.

Totally rediculous and lazy on Peugeots part! Including bonnet release and the minute glove box due to fuses been on the left!!

Wonder if you could swap the wiper arms over rather than just the blades!? I'll try and see what happens when I get time! :)

any more joy on this issue? on my 3 yr old 308,just bought, the passenger wiper leaves a smear right in the centre of my vision,ie on its right hand edge. I was wondering if fitting another shorter blade on passenger side would alleviate this? any ideas please as this spoils a great car for me whenever it rains

hi,well no one seems to know,ok. How hard is it to change the blades then, is it better to stop the blades in the vertical position as it is a long stretch otherwise? I need to change mine asap please

I asked my dealer about this. Their man said they had tried swapping the arms, but it doesn't work, because of the 'kinks' in them. It sends the long wiper off the right-hand edge of the screen.
He assured me that there is no fix for this problem. There should be - the 'big' wiper, more often that not, leaves a curved smear right across the centre of your vision.
Has anyone thought of asking a Citroen dealer to help? Maybe the arms from one of their models might do. eg my old xsara Picasso had the correct set-up. I think I will ask them, if no-one else tells me different.

I'm a gnats adder under 6'4" and didn't suffer any blind spots - the bits that get missed are higher up, so unless you're indulging in a spot of astronomy behind the wheel it's not really a problem, just bloody annoying knowing that someone was either too tight, lazy or forgetful to remember it for the rhd market.

They also left the handbrake on the wrong side of the console, but if you're a big unit like me that's actually a better place for it.

A friend of mine says she has the same problem on her 308 and it looks like the wipe is opposite of the 407 ,
She complains that the passenger side comes down last and throws water over the drivers side obscuring her vision .
