Hello. I have peugeot 307, 2006 yop, 1.6 HDI 90hp.
Everything was working fine until i made complete service, changed the filters, oil and timing belt, V belt, water pump etc.
After the service it started to exhaust white smoke and it smell a lot. Strange thing is that i doesn't happen all the time. It happen's from time to time especially when i first start the car, but also not happen everytime when the engine is cold.
Also i use 5w40 Total 9000 Oil.
Any clue what it may be?

But it happens also when the car is warmed up. When i am driving home from work, that's 11km and car temperature is 80 degrees and it's still exhausting white smoke. It may be because it was cold outside (3 degrees celsius)?

Makes sense - cold weather makes it easier to see water vapour - same as when you breathe out in Winter.

I'd just check the coolant level - and make sure no mayonnaise in oil - if all OK then put it down to the weather and possibly replacing all the kit as things 'settle down'.

My own diesel throws out a dense white smoke on first start on cold mornings - it's normal.
