If you had that noise before fitting that flywheel and clutch maybe your alternator bearings are well worn. I had that problem and noise was the highest at low revs.
Try to remove its belt and to rotate it to see does it generate any noise. But also could be some pulleys or rollers.

just sounds like its coming from gearbox area and goes when i press the clutch, sounds like an electric car and very annoying indeed lol, i have no noises from that area it seems very quite,
only other thing i get is still engine judder on starting engine of which i thought the flywheel would of sorted that but people seem to say its my rear engine mount that needs replacing, so dnt no if that has anything to do with it

what you might be hearing is normal gearbox noise. in both my peugeot and ford, when travelling, especially at speed i hear whine best described as a hum with a slight propeller sound to it. nothing wrong...does it sound like that?

yes sounds like that Grrrr lol, going to the engine judder on turning engine over and stopping im guessing this has tobe a engine mount? as i carnt see what it can be and the engine rocks forward and back which to me would be the rear mount thats worn (maybe the flywheel made it excessive).

when the engine is cold (for obvious reasons) can you rock the engine yourself with your hands?

if not mounts are fine.

Is it like a Thust Bearing whine? That used to be the cause on Ford's that i ran in the past when the plate was replaced but not the thrust bearing , always went when the clutch was pressed

I Have a whining noise on my 307, i had changed the clutch on it last year(incl flywheel) and it's still there so definitely gearbox related. Just wear and tear i guess. it was present before the new flywheel. it seems worse in 2/3 gear and only on deceleration. check the gearbox oil level if this noise is new. other than that a new gearbox is the only solution in my case.

yeah the noise was there before i had clutch and flywheel changed but i only just brought the car so dont no how long it been like it.
the mechanics did say the gearbox has been off a few times so prob the gearbox, my main issue is the excessive engine judder upon starting the engine and off, the engine seems to have too much movement which i think the bad flywheel has soften the mounts, is this pritty normal? i can move the engine a bit my self (foward and back) would this be a rear mount?, i tried moving my bros 406 and his is much firmer and i can hardly move it where as mine is soft and can move myself.
1 person did say the solid flywheel can still give u bad engine judder when turning engine off ect.. but i carnt seem to think that cars would simply come out of a garage for instance peugeot garage and have excessive engine judder like mine aas ill simply put me foot up there ass and tellem where to go lol.
any1 changed rear mount? ifso easy job? best place to get the part? thanks

sorry for the late reply...yeah if you can move your engine with your hands its definately engine mounts...or so i am told :thumb: best bet is to inspect each one

speaking to a lad here who has done mounts before, he says its not that bad to replace them...use a trolley jack or prop to lift the engine...but he did say if its the dog leg one near the gearbox...its a right C U Next Tuesday to replace

well from my understanding there is 3 1 at each side and 1 rear, i do see the left front move but that could be cus the rear is naff as the judder is makeing engine go forward and back so the rear takes most of that work i would of thought.
i can only find this 1:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-206-307-106-306-ENGINE-MOUNT-REAR-LOWER-180756-/330521576292?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4cf49f0364

is this the correct 1 and ifso can any1 tell me if its easy to fit and how?,
i could do with a diagram of my engine tbh but carnt find 1.
thnaks
