Hi, so I'm having the usual gearbox issues with this 207(grinding and sounding awful in 1st,2nd and 3rd gears). The gearbox fitted is a 20CQ46 and I'm having a bit of trouble finding a 2nd hand replacement with exactly the same gearbox code. Can anyone shed any light on whether I need a gearbox with this exact code or can I use a 20CQ25, for example? Is the '20CQ' portion of the gearbox code the bit that tells me it'll fit and the last 2 numbers in the code are referring to the ratios maybe? There are loads of 20CQ boxes out there and I just need to know if any 20CQ box would fit or if it must be exactly a 20CQ46? Any help with this will be so appreciated as I'm really struggling to find out facts regarding this gearbox. Surely the 20CQ46 isn't the only gearbox that will fit my 207cc! I don't really care about ratio, as long as it's roughly similar.
Thanks again for any help anyone can give me as I'm at a dead end.

ANY box the same physical type will fit there are many variations of boxes you just need to find one that looks the same and works the same codes don't matter too much

There are probably 100 variants of the box fitted to your car some will fit some wont as starter positions are different mounts are different gear selector type is different etc etc

Just find 1 that has the same layout including clutch operation and it will do the job

Had a look turns out your engine is the prince engine and the box was altered to suit it.

seems its an oddball so you need the correct one :(
