hi guys,

i've been hearing this 'scraping sound' and judging from my cars minor services over its 150k mileage i think it's due a new timing belt...

its a 307 hdi se (55') 1.6. I want to buy the part and fit it myself to save money, is this a job i could do myself, how much should the new belt cost and where is a good place to buy one?

thanks

Looking at Eurocarparts, the timing belt kit is £90-£100 and just the belt is £30-£35. If you're going to do this, maybe worthwhile looking at replacing the water pump £45 whilst you have it all in bits.

A guy on ebay is offering me a timing belt kit ('Dayco' brand) and a water pump ('Comline' brand) - for 95 quid inc. postage...

anyone heard of DAYCO or COMLINE...........would CONTINENTAL be better?

apparantly DAYCO supply OE (i dont know what OE is!?)

thanks
