just got my car back from an annual service, and thought it was a good price of £110 mrs went and picked it up, i cant drive at the moment, and she has got back and looking at the invoice they have not changed the air filter, fuel filter or pollen filter. now normally i would do my own servicing and would do all the filters,. but surely if you book it in at a garage for an annual service they should do filters shouldnt they? ok maybe not pollen but the others they should do shouldnt they???????

all they done was oil, oil filter, consumables and screen wash.

110 for an oil filter change. oh dear did they use the correct oil

so many people rip you off. they offer full services and only do an oil change

an oil change is normally classed as a minor service. i suppose they will argue peugeot said a few years for air filters and stuff

it is a fair size garage not a one man back street one hence i expected more.

what does your manual say for the mileage. 110 pounds for 15 quids worth of oil and a 10 oil filter is a rip off. what did you ask for at the garage?

service parts and that includes fuel filter. air filter and pollen filter wont even cost you 60 notes

other bits like pads ect.
the mrs booked it in as i was in hospital and she asked for a service.
the break down of the invoice is
oil 15.75
screenwash 1.00
consumables 3.00
oil filter 5.95
bulb 3.40 thats for a 501? could buy a box of 10 for that.

Wouldn't worry about air filter as that could have been blown clean if it wasn't too bad, but I would want my fuel filter changing.

i am truely shocked. i service my peugeot for about 40 quid for everything.

it takes me that time to do that work but i do have to get all my jack and axle stands out plus my tools

big garages do mean paying vat though :( part prices look ok though

Me to normally but been laid up due to an op so wife and mum arranged it. Mum was panicking as wife was having to drive at night and I hadn't been able to service it. I have got a pile of bushes and drop links sat at home waiting to go on it once I get this great bit of scaffolding off my leg.

If we did a full service without the customer giving the goahead to even fit an airfilter guaranteed they'd be back giving out about the cost.
You have to state you want a short or full service. Otherwise we'll just do a short service and make notes of what else is needed.

thanks for that. there was a list of advisories. just still would expect an air filter for a short service.

Makes me glad I did all the filter and oil changes myself. Although I suppose not everyone has that option.

im glad too with help from this forum and the manual (all cars have there own specific problems) my car seems to run really happy

it goes to show though my local pug specialist has quoted me 200 notes for my clutch to be done. im not even going to bother getting dirty for that price and thats a genuine clutch too

seems a bargain when for 110 notes they did the oil topped up the screenwash and kicked the tyres

this is the argument i have with my missus. she always asks why i dont do mechanics.

answer is
a) im a bit of a perfectionist
b) you will go out of your way to do bits that people dont want to pay for even though you know the car needs it
c) everyones tight as arseholes/. my nan buys a car for 500 quid and never expects to spend a penny on it
